To make money for Kids Against Hunger, the students
at Meredith are selling shamrocks that students can
buy and have delivered to their friends on the day
before apring break. Mr. Johns is buying the
shamrocks for the 7th grade. The students plan to sell
the shamrocks for $0.25 each, but they do also have
to pay back the $20 to Mr. Johns. How many
shamrocks must they sell to make at least $150 profit?
As a salesperson, William is paid $50 per
week plus $3 per sale. This week William
has set a goal to make at least $100. Write
an inequality for the number of sales
William needs to make and describe the
solutions using a graph.
Manuel needs to buy the ingredients to make a
double batch of macaroni and cheese with
hamburger. (He needs one box of macaroni and
cheese that costs $0.85 and 1 pound of hamburger to
make one batch). He has several types of hamburger
to choose from at the grocery store. Manuel’s mom
gave him $5 to get the ingredients. What is the most
he can spend for one pound of hamburger?

The homeless shelter is asking for
donations of tooth paste and
toothbrushes. Kim has decided to use
her allowance money that she has
saved to get 5 sets of tooth paste and
brushes. If the toothpaste cost $2.50 a
tube, how much can she spend on each
tooth brush if she doesn’t want to spend
more than $20 of her allowance?
