Wednesday 5/18
• Learning Goal:
Explain how the cardiovascular system functions as
the transport system of the body.
• Warm up:
When blood enters the Left Ventricle, it is _____ in
oxygen because blood is coming from the ______.
• Homework:
Finish classwork if needed (p. 26-31)
Circulatory System (Cardiovascular)
• Aorta - Distributes oxygen rich blood to the
body
• Left Atrium - Receives oxygen rich blood from
the lungs
• Right Atrium - Receives oxygen poor blood
from the body
• Valve - Opens and closes so blood only flows
one way through the heart
Circulatory System (Cardiovascular)
• Left Ventricle - Pumps oxygen rich blood out
through the aorta
• Septum - Separates the ventricles to prevent
oxygen-rich and oxygen-poor blood from
mixing
• Right Ventricle - Pumps oxygen poor blood to
the lungs
