Line segment is part of a line. It has to
endpoints.
A point is a location in space.
Lines that cross each other are intersecting.
Two lines that form right angles are
perpendicular.
You can draw a line through any two points. A
line goes on without end in both directions.
An angle that makes a square corner is called a
right angle. (90 degrees)
Lines that are always the same distance apart
are parallel.
A ray is a part of a line. It has one endpoint
and goes on without end in one direction.
Strait angle is an angle that forms a straight
line.
An angle is formed by two rays with a common
endpoint. The common endpoint is the vertex
of the angle.
An angle can be measured in units called
degrees. (Written as °) You will measure
angles between 0° and 180°
A protractor is used to measure an angle.
Obtuse angle is an angel greater than a right
angle.
An acute angle is an angle that is less than a
right angle.
A polygon is a flat, closed plane figure made up
of three or more line segments called sides.
The sides only meet at their end points.
Triangle 3 sides and 3 angles
Quadrilateral 4 sides and 4 angles
A square had 4 sides of the same length and 4
right angles.
Pentagon 5 sides and 5 angles
A trapezoid has only 1 pair of parallel sides.
Hexagon 6 sides and 6 angles
A parallelogram has opposite sides parallel and
of the same length.
Octagon 8 sides and 8 angles
Rectangle has opposite sides parallel and 4
right angles.
A rhombus has opposite sides parallel and 4
sides the same length.
Obtuse Triangle has one obtuse angle.
Equilateral Triangle has all sides the same
length.
Acute Triangle has all angles that are acute.
Isosceles Triangle has at least 2 sides that are
the same length.
A circle is made up of all points in a plane that
are the same distance from a given point in
that plane.
Scalene Triangle has no sides the same length.
Right Triangle has 1 right angle.
A radius is any line segment that joins a point
on the circle to the center of the circle.
A diameter is any line segment that passes
through the center of a circle and has its
endpoint on the circle.
A chord is any line segment that has its
endpoint on the circle. It does not need to
pass through the center.
