PARTAKERS of the DIVINE NATURE
 Premise: Jesus has rescued us from the original
corruption of sin. Not only that our sins would be forgiven,
but also to restore us back to the original version of God’s
intention for us to live in the quality of Divine life (Zoe).
Jesus did this by becoming one with our humanity. He was
tempted in all ways, yet with out sinning, His victory was
defeat over death, hell, and the grave. His bodily
resurrection and His ascension has positioned and
empowered us to again to be partakers of the divine
nature. God originally designed humanity to walk with
Him in the reality of a divine nature that governs the carnal
nature. Experiencing the Divine nature is diligently walking
by faith and adding to it a moral excellence. Our intimate
knowledge of God empowers us to exercise self-control,
perseverance, godliness, and brotherly kindness which
reveals God's manifest love and brings heaven to earth.
PARTAKERS OF DIVINE NATURE
The Goal of Faith is the "Same Kind as Ours"
 God’s provision: His righteousness, His divine power, His
glory and excellence, His Promises
(His to give and ours to receive)
 God’s Agenda: That we have true knowledge of Him in Jesus
Christ.
(All the promises of God are yes and Amen in Jesus.)
 God’s Purposes: That we can be partakers of the
divine nature.
(The Nature of the Godhead)
 God's relational Love: Peri -Choresis” (The Dance)
Divine intimacy between the persons of the Godhead.
 Gen 3 (13 -14a-15) Then the LORD God said to the woman,
“What is this you have done?” And the woman said, “The
*serpent *deceived me, and I ate.” 14a The LORD God said to
the serpent, “Because you have done this…15 And I will put
enmity Between you and the woman, And between your
seed and her seed; *He shall bruise you on the head, and
you shall bruise him on the heel.”
 *Deception was the original sin.
 *Serpent was the original sinner.
 *Jesus is the original answer.
1Jn 3(8) The one who practices sin is of the devil; for the
devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God
appeared for this purpose, to destroy (unravel) the works
of the devil.
Carnal Lust was the original problem.
“ Having escaped the corruption that is in the *world by lust.”
 Gen. 3 (6) When the woman saw that the tree was good for food,
and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was
desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she
gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.
 1John 2(16) For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the
lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, (bios) is not from
the Father, but is from the *world. --*Kosmos
Deception of Lust > enticement to act >conception of sin >
consequence is death.
 James 1(13-15) Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being
tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself
does not tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is
carried away and enticed by his own lust. 15 Then when lust has
conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it
brings forth death.
Corruption was the consequence of sin.

Gen 2(17) But from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you
shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.
God did not say the day you eat from the tree: "I will kill you.''
It was: ''You shall surely *die.''
To cease living (within) the original version of creation.
 Jn 3(16b) For God so loved the world, that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not *perish,
(not live in eternal corruption)
• Apollumi: A strengthened form of ollumi, signifies "to destroy
utterly;", "to perish." The idea is not extinction but ruin, loss, not of
being, but of well-being --Vines
God drove Adam & Eve from the garden for Love.
 Gal 2(20) “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but
Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in
the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.''
 Romans 6(5-6) For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of
His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection
 6knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our
body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be
slaves to sin;
"If we walk in the Spirit we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh."
Sin is walking in our carnal nature independent of God's nature.
 Jesus's nature is connected both to our human nature and the Godhead's
nature. Connecting to Jesus through Holy Spirit is what governs our carnal
nature for the purposes of God.
"Becoming by grace what God is by nature."
Athanasius's doctrine of Theosis
Moral health is a sign of Kingdom growth.
 2Peter1(5-9) Now for this very reason also, applying all
diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your
moral excellence, knowledge, 6 and in your knowledge, selfcontrol, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your
perseverance, godliness, 7 and in your godliness, brotherly
kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if these
qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you
neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our
Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these qualities is blind
or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his
former sins.
 The ability to add these things is proof you believe you have
been cleansed from the enemies ability to deceive you!
 2Peter 3(18) but grow in the
grace and knowledge of our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now
and to the day of eternity. Amen
Partakers of the Divine nature are to be "re-takers" of
what the First Adam lost and what the last Adam won.
 Jesus's work of redemption for our salvation from sin was
not to "re-cover" (to hide us) from God's anger, but to "restore"(abide with) us to live in victory and be vessels of
honor used for God's glory and purposes. Grace is that
very empowerment. We are not to use our carnality for the
serpent's purposes, which lead to deception(rebellion, sin,
and finally death), but rather for God's Kingdom to be
manifested upon the earth. Christ in us is the hope of glory
which "re -establishes" our humanity to subdue the earth
and be fruitful for God's purposes by which we were
originally created.
 John 17(21) “The glory which You have given Me I have
given to them, that they may be one, just as We are *One.
( *Divinity working through humanity)
