So, what's your question? Are you greater
than Paul the apostle who wrote a large part
of the New Testament? He was sick with
something and God didn’t heal him because
it was just going to make him stronger.
You just want an excuse to continue living a
sinful and immoral lifestyle.

This man is asking why God will allow us to suffer. Why did my
43 year old favorite uncle who dedicated his life to spreading
the word of God as a Lutheran pastor suddenly get a cancerous
tumor in his liver ? Why did he have to die a slow and painful
death over about 2 1/2 years?
Yet he kept his faith and when he finally passed it was with his
entire congregation holding hands in a circle around his house
and singing his favorite hymns to God. He had been
unconscious for days and hadn't moved at all, but right before
his heart stopped beating, my aunt, his wife who was holding
his hand, says that he smiled right before he died as if God had
reassured him his hard work had not been in vain and he was
finally going home.
This is a valid question this man has and nobody should ridicule
him for asking it. But the answer is we don't know or could
even pretend to understand God’s motives for this.

To receive healing by faith, you
must be convinced that GOD
WANTS YOU WELL!
1. God’s creation was good!
There was no sickness in the Garden of Eden.
Sickness came into the world as a result of sin.
It is part of the curse.
Gal 3:13 “Christ
redeemed us
from the curse ”
2. There is no sickness in heaven.
“[God] will wipe every tear from their eyes.
There will be no more death or mourning or
crying or pain, for the old order of things has
passed away” Rev 21:4
Jesus said we ought to pray: “Thy kingdom
come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in
heaven.” Matt. 6:10
3. Jesus healed all who came to Him.
He never made anyone sick.
“Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their
synagogues, preaching the good news of the
kingdom, and healing every disease and
sickness among the people.” Matt 4:23
“And many followed him, and he healed them all.”
Matt.12:15
“…all who touched Him were healed.” Mark 6 :56
"For I have come down from heaven not to do my
will but to do the will of Him who sent me.“ Jn

4. If you think God made you sick, why
do you go to the doctor?
Why are you opposing God’s will? [Classic
Buddhism – “Untouchables”/Dalit people
deserve their suffering because of their bad
karma in a previous life.]
Jesus said: "The thief comes only to steal and
kill and destroy; I came that they may have life,
and have it abundantly.” John 10:10
“…every good and perfect gift comes from our
Father in heaven, in whom is no shadow of

5. God is good. He gives good gifts.
No parent wishes illness on his child. Why would
God be different?
Matt 7:9-11 “Or what man is there among you
who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a
stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a
serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to
give good gifts to your children, how much
more will your Father who is in heaven give
good things to those who ask Him!” NKJV
I John 1:5 “This is the message which we have
heard from Him and declare to you, that God is
light and in Him is no darkness at all.”
6. Healing is in the Atonement
Jesus died for your healing!
• Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely he hath borne our griefs,
and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem
him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
• But he was wounded for our transgressions,
he was bruised for our iniquities: the
chastisement of our peace was upon him; and
with his stripes we are healed.
• Some argue, “This refers to spiritual healing,
not physical healing.”

Definition of “Sozo”/Salvation
What does “sozo” mean? (Strong’s Concordance)
• to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from
danger or destruction one (from injury or peril)
• to save a suffering one, to heal one suffering
from disease, to make well, heal, restore to
health
• to preserve one who is in danger of destruction,
to save or rescue
“Sozo”/ Salvation includes Healing
Salvation “That if you confess with your mouth Jesus
is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised
Him from the dead you shall be saved (sozo).”
Romans 10:9
Healing “But Jesus turning and seeing her said
‘Daughter take courage your faith has made you
well (sozo) and at once the woman was made well
(sozo).” Matt 9:22 “The prayer of faith shall save
sozo the sick, and the Lord will raise him up.” James
5:14
Deliverance “And those who had seen it reported to
them how the man who was demon-possessed had
been made well (sozo).” Luke 8:36
6. Healing is in the Atonement
John 19:30 “When Jesus therefore had received
the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed
his head, and gave up the ghost.”
It is a finished work! Through His death on the
cross, Jesus paid for our sins and our sickness!
Review:
God wants you well!
1. There was no sickness in the Garden of Eden.
(Result of man’s sin.)
2. There was no sickness in heaven.
3. Jesus healed all who came to Him & He only does
the Father’s will.
4. Why oppose His will by going to the doctor if God
wants you sick?
5. God is good and He gives good gifts!
6. Jesus died for your healing. It’s in the atonement.
But if God “allows” me to be sick,
doesn’t it mean that’s His will for me?
One reason people are not healed is
because we misunderstand the
sovereignty of God.
We think God is in control; and He
determines all outcomes in life.
It’s a passive mindset from ancient Greek
and Roman cultures, where people
believed they could not change their fate.
Misconceptions about the
Sovereignty of God
1. “God is in charge” vs. “God is in
control” God does not control or force
people to do His will. People are free to
do whatever they want to do.
2. Don’t assume that everything that
happens is God’s will.
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count
slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to
perish but for all to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9,
Misconceptions about the
Sovereignty of God
3. Whatever is “meant to be” will happen.
(False. This is not a biblical concept. We
have responsibility for our own lives.)
4. “Everything happens for a reason.” (Be
careful with this idea. Don’t blame God
for things He didn’t do.)
5. If you aren’t healed yet, don’t assume
God wants you sick! There can be many
factors that sabotage your healing.
Misconceptions about the
Sovereignty of God
Jesus repeatedly said to the sick,
"Your faith has healed you." Never
once did He say, "God’s sovereignty
has healed you” or
“You need to be sick a little longer so
you can learn something.”
Whose report will you believe?
What about Paul’s Thorn in the Flesh?
"And lest I should be exalted above measure through the
abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a
thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me,
lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I
besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my
strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly
therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities (lack or
inadequacy) that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in
necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake:
for when I am weak, then am I strong." (2 Cor. 12:7-10)
What about Paul’s Thorn in the Flesh?
1. Source of trouble = messenger from Satan (not
from God)
2. Persecution and hatred was stirred up from
people wherever he went because of this
messenger from Satan. God does not override
human will. He gives us grace to stand strong in
spite of it.
3. “infirmity” here means “lack or inadequacy,”
not sickness.
Misconceptions about the
Sovereignty of God
Wrong thinking about the
sovereignty of God (assuming
God is allowing you to be sick for
His purposes) will make you
passive in your faith—rather
than pressing in according to His
Word.
How can I be healed?
1. Start Over!
Start over. Set aside religious
thinking on the subject of healing
and forget past failure.
Phil 3:13 But one thing I do: forgetting what lies
behind and straining forward to what lies
ahead…

How can I be healed?
2. It’s by GRACE through FAITH!
Remember, the key that unlocks all
spiritual treasure is the GRACE we
receive through FAITH in the
completed work of Jesus on the cross.
Eph 2:8-9 It is by grace you are saved through
faith, and that not of yourselves; it is a gift of
God not a result of works lest anyone should
boast.
2. He has already given you FAITH!
He has blessed us with every spiritual
blessing in heavenly places in Christ! Eph1:3
Matt 17:20 I tell you the truth, if you have faith as
small as a mustard seed, you can say to this
mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will
move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
Heb 11:6 Without faith it is impossible to please God
for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and
that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek
Him.
Lk 18:42 Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your
faith has healed you.“
Rom 12:3 God hath dealt to every man the measure of
faith.
3. Look at Jesus, not your sickness.
Fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and
perfecter of your faith! Heb 12:2
Psalm 107:19-21 Then they cried to the Lord in
their trouble, and He saved them from their
distress; He sent out His word and healed
them, and delivered them from destruction.
Psalm 30:2 “O Lord my God, I cried to You for
help, and You have healed me.”
Praise is looking at Him!
Jer 17:13 Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed;
Save me and I will be saved, For You are the
One I praise.
Psalm 22:3 But You are holy,
enthroned in the praises of Israel (His people)
Praise puts the focus of your attention on the
Lord instead of rehearsing the problem over
and over in your mind.
Worship is looking at Him!
Exodus 23:25 “You shall worship the Lord your
God, and I will bless your bread and your
water; and I will take sickness away from
among you.”
Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD
shall renew their strength; they shall mount
up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and
not be weary; and they shall walk, and not
faint.
Thankfulness is looking at Him!
Psalm 103: 2-5 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and
forget none of His benefits; who pardons all your
iniquities, who heals all your diseases; who
redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you
with lovingkindness and compassion; who
satisfies your years with good things, so
that your youth is renewed like the eagle.
Proverbs 17:22 “A cheerful heart is a good
medicine, but a downcast spirit dries up the
bones.”
4. Cast down unbelief!
Cast down every imagination that exalts itself
against the knowledge of God bringing into
captivity every thought to the obedience of
Christ. 2 Cor 10:5
Matt 17: 19-21 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart,
and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus
said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I
say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard
seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence
to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing
shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind
goes not out but by prayer and fasting.
4. Cast down unbelief!
Disciples could not heal the son…
Mark 9:23 -24 Jesus said unto him (father), If thou
canst believe, all things are possible to him that
believes. And straightway the father of the child
cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help
thou mine unbelief.
Jesus held the disciples responsible, not the
sick boy.
Unbelief works
against faith.
4. Cast down unbelief!
Unbelief can shut down faith.
Mark 6:5 Now He (Jesus) could do
no mighty work there, except that
He laid His hands on a few sick
people and healed them. (NKJV)
Matt. 13:58 And he did not many
mighty works there because of
their unbelief . (KJV)
How can I be healed?
5. Stand on the Word
• Proverbs 4:20-22 “My child, be attentive to
my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do
not let them escape from your sight; keep
them within your heart. For they are life to
those who find them, and healing to all their
flesh.”

5. Stand on the Word

• Alan went outside to do yard work in 104
degree heat.
• Wife found him: “You’re not going to leave
me!”
• Dr. report: left side paralysis, can’t speak or
swallow, lost peripheral vision, was critical
condition fighting for his life
5. Stand on the Word
• Wife Debbie would not repeat the diagnosis
to her sister, only confessed the Word
• Dr. thought wife was in shock and denial
• Alan got up an walked despite intravenous
tubes, catheter, feeding tube, heart monitor
• Recovered so quickly that the doctors did
another MRI & MRA scan to see if he even
had a stroke—2nd scan confirmed the
extensive stroke
5. Stand on the Word
• Shortly thereafter, Alan returned to work 10
hour days. He has had no residual issues
from the stroke.
• “He made a miraculous recovery, and I can’t
explain that,” Dr. Chunduri said.
6. Use Believer’s Authority
Acts 3:6 "Peter said, Silver and gold I do not have, but
what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ
of Nazareth, rise up and walk."
Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on
serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the
enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that
believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do
also; and greater works than these shall he do;
because I go unto my Father.
The Believer’s Authority
Mark 11:23 “For truly I say unto you, That whosoever
shall say to this mountain, Be removed, and be cast
into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but
shall believe that those things which he says shall
come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he says.”
Matt 16:19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom
of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be
bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth
will be loosed[ in heaven.”
Don’t let religious thinking explain the Word away.
The Believer’s Authority
• Three years ago, Audrey Scott appeared to be
healthy at birth but doctors quickly discovered they
couldn’t keep her “pink” in color.
• The infant was transferred to a NICU where doctors
determined from an echogram that part of the
baby’s heart was missing and that there were no
major arteries flowing from the heart to the lungs.
• At the next opportunity Jamie (mother) had to see
baby Audrey, she laid her hands on her and
commanded Audrey's heart to be there, and spoke
1 Peter 2:24 over her, “…By whose stripes you were
healed.”
The Believer’s Authority
Later that day, specialists told the Scotts that their
baby girl had a poor life expectancy, but Jamie stood
firmly on the truth. She knew her God did not
create these problems, and she believed that He had
made Audrey whole in spite of the bad report.

perfectly well, and has

7. Seek help from the Body of Christ
James 5:14-15 Is any one of you sick? He should call
the elders of the church to pray over him and
anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And
the prayer offered in faith will make the sick
person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has
sinned, he will be forgiven.
I Cor 12:28 28And God hath set some in the church,
first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly
teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of
healings, helps, governments, diversities of
tongues.
7. Seek help from the Body of Christ
Mark 16:17-18 And these signs shall follow them
that believe; In my name shall they cast out
devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They
shall take up serpents; and if they drink any
deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay
hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Matt 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you
shall agree on earth as touching any thing that
they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my
Father which is in heaven.

death, but to be spiritually minded is life and
peace.”

in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

• Merci was hospitalized every 6 weeks; her
mother had to care for her & her daughter
(repeated cycles of attack)
• Eventually, she couldn’t work or drive—disabled
• She could not walk or use her arms, and had
trouble swallowing and speaking, had pain all
over her body from muscles spasms, numbness,
incontinence, and other symptoms.
8. Victory is a Process
In her desperation, she came across Andrew
Wommack on TV, & started applying the
Word.
Little by little she got well—a process. Now if a
symptom starts, she speaks the Word and
commands it to go.
She is strong and healthy!
Healing is a Refuge, not
condemnation
Psalm 91:3-4 For he will deliver you from the
snare of the fowler and from the deadly
pestilence; he will cover you with his pinions, and
under his wings you will find refuge; his
faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
Deuteronomy 7:14-15 “You shall be the most
blessed of peoples, …. The Lord will turn away
from you every illness.”
Do not be condemned if you are ill, but
do not be complacent!
Your faith pleases God
Healing is a free gift. It is not earned by
religious activity or sincere effort.
As you meditate on the Word and speak it,
your faith is active. Your faith pleases the
heart of God!
Our Healing Treasure
1. There was no sickness in Eden or Heaven.
2. Jesus healed all who came to Him.
3. God gives good gifts. Jesus gives abundant life;
the enemy steals, kills, destroys.
4. Healing is in the atonement. Saved (sozo)
includes healing.
5. It’s by grace through faith!
6. Rejoice and be thankful! Stand on the Word,
and use your authority.
7. Faith is not passive! Only faith pleases God.
Hannah Terradez
Hannah Terradez – Born with an autoimmune
disease that caused her to be allergic to food.
She could not keep it down, had terrible pain,
was very small because of so little nutrition.
• At age of 3 she was – So ill that she was fed
through a feeding tube with an amino acid
formula, and this too was failing. She lost
bladder control, constant pain, high temps,
etc.

Hannah was
losing strength
and the family
was running out
of options.

Hannah’s body started body rejecting the
amino acid formula. Doctors had no other
options. Hannah was dying.
Heard healing cassette tape from Hannah’s
grandparents on the way to the hospital. She
was hospitalized for 5 weeks.
Her parents took her to a Healing conference
she received prayer on the last day. She had
spent most of her time writhing on the floor,
crying in pain!

• Hannah awoke. She was completely calm. Her
father bent over her. “Hannah, while you were
asleep, Jesus healed you.”
• Without hesitation, she brightened and said,
“Then I want to go to McDonald’s!”
• Hannah’s five-year-old brother Zachary piped up,
“Now that Hannah’s healed, she won’t need her
tube anymore.”
• To that, Hannah added, “Yeah, and I can eat
anything I want now!”

• That settled it. Her mother promptly unplugged
Hannah’s feeding tube. She took the bag of costly
medicines that had been used hour-by-hour to
sustain her life, and hid them away.
• Unable to find a McDonald’s, the family went to a
Kentucky Fried Chicken instead. That afternoon,
Hannah ate chicken nuggets, ice cream, yogurt,
cheese, chocolate, and fruit juice—something
from nearly every food group! Normally, she
would have been vomiting immediately and in
terrible pain.

Later in the car…she started gagging and choking,
but her father used his authority, “In the name of
Jesus, choking and gagging must stop! Hannah is
healed.” Moments later she was happily playing.
When Hannah was brought back to the children’s
hospital, the doctors had no explanation for the
incredible transformation in her. She ate anything
she wanted, was symptom free, and started to
gain weight. Her hair color was returning, her
eyes sparkled, and she had boundless energy.
They could find nothing at all wrong with her.
Even her blood tested perfectly. She was called
the “miracle girl.”
