Types of Triangles
Vocabulary
Congruent means the same length.
A triangle is a figure formed by three line segments
that intersect only at their endpoints.
Classifying Triangles by Sides
• Scalene Triangle- no congruent sides of the
triangle
• Isosceles Triangle- at least two congruent
sides of the triangle
• Equilateral Triangle- All three sides of the
triangle are congruent.
Classifying Triangles by Angles
• Acute Triangle- All three angles of the triangle
are acute.
• Obtuse Triangle- One angle in the triangle is
obtuse.
• Right Triangle- One angle in the triangle is a
right angle.
