Royal Russell Junior School Bulletin Spring Term 2017 Dear Parents, Happy New Year to you all and I hope you had an enjoyable and relaxing Festive Season. Continuing in the spirt of good news I am delighted to be able to congratulate Mrs Cummings on the news that she is expecting her third child in July this year. We will of course be planning for her maternity cover in due course, however in the meantime it will be business as usual in Reception. Our two training days at the start of term very quickly got all the staff back into the swing of school as we covered a range of topics from Pensions to Book Week. I was delighted that so much of our training was delivered by our ‘in house’ expertise from the excellent staff team here at Royal Russell. If you drive onto site I am sure you will have noticed our new 5mph signs that were designed by the children. In the interests of all our safety I would ask that you observe the speed limit at all times when driving around school and if you recognise yourself in one of the photos below please refrain from these activities whilst behind the wheel of your car. As always the term ahead will prove to be a busy and productive one and as always we would encourage you to support the many events that are happening this term and to ensure that your own calendars are synched with the school one. (a copy is attached to this email). Best wishes. Mr James C Thompson + RRJS WEEKLY BULLETIN WEEK COMMENCING MONDAY 9th January Wednesday 11 January 4:00 PM Swimming: U8-U11 Gala vs Sutton (H) (LL/EJ) Friday 13 January 4:00 PM Basketball: U11AB vs Elmhurst (H) (ML) Saturday 14 January 9:30 AM Netball: U9 Hoebridge Prep Tournament (A) (LL) School Policy for Swimming We would like to draw your attention to our school policy for swimming which is that all children who are healthy enough to attend school are expected to participate in their swimming lesson. If a child is suffering from an illness or infection severe enough to prevent them from swimming, they should be kept away from school for their own well-being and to avoid the spread of infection. We understand there are certain occasional, medical circumstances when children who are otherwise healthy may not be able to swim and are not infectious. In these circumstances we ask for notification in advance of the swimming session verified by a doctor if at all possible.
