Personal and Family Finance.
(3-0-3) F, S. A study of factors affecting the buymanship of food, clothing, housing,
transportation, credit, and insurance. Credit not granted for both FCS 3300 and CTE
3000.

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
1. Relate consumer economics to basic economic principles.
2. Identify the role of the consumer in our economy.
3. Make rational choices among consumer alternatives.
4. Make competent decisions pertaining to family economics.
5. Use sources of information which will be beneficial throughout life.
6. Solve consumer problems as they arise.
7. Obtain greater satisfaction and benefits through proper utilization of economic
resources.
8. Identify the problems in family financial management within differing income
groups, social groups and at various stages in the family life cycle.
9. List the factors which influence our decisions as consumers.
10. Keep records and make budgets according to individual or family needs.
11. Identify the governmental agencies that play a role in protecting the consumer.
12. Discuss the influences of cultural diversity in the marketplace on consumer
decision making and consumer economics.
