The multiplication or division of each term of a ratio by a nonzero number does not affect the
ratio.

The equality of two ratios is called proportion.
It is written as a: b = c: d or a: b:: c : d. Here, the first and fourth terms are called extremes while
the second and third terms are called means.

In a proportion, product of extremes = product of means. i.e. ad = bc.

