The Logical Solution
The System
Thinklogical’s Firewire 800 Fiber Optic Extender
allows users to extend Firewire devices up to
1000 meters (3280 feet) using standard multimode
fiber optic cable, with no signal degradation.
The Firewire 800 Extender is ideal for use with
multimedia peripherals such as digital video
cameras and other high-speed devices such as
hard disk drives and printers. Boasting incredible
transfer rates of up to 800 Mbps the Firewire 800
Fiber Optic Extender is the perfect solution for a
wide variety of applications, such as video editing
and broadcasting, networking, and security
systems.
Each system consists of two compact units, a
transmitter and a receiver. The Firewire 800 Fiber
Optic Extender transmitter connects to the host
computer with a standard cable, the receiver
provides two ports for connection of peripheral
devices. In addition, LEDs provide link performance
status at a glance. One duplex fiber optic cable,
available in different lengths from Thinklogical,
connect sender (computer) to receiver (Firewire
800 device). External power is optional for the
transmitter and typically required for the receiver,
as both obtain power parasitically. Two universal
power supplies are included.
The Features
All models are available with SC-, ST-, or LC-type
fiber connectors.

