Railway trespass and obstruction are very dangerous and can result in death
or life-changing injuries. The purpose of this newsletter is to raise awareness
to parents and children of the dangers caused by misuse and trespassing
with the summer holidays looming.
Over the years Greenfield station and the line from Manchester to Huddersfield in the summer months attracts vandals and children trespassing. Trains
traveling up to 100mph go through this area and this is a very dangerous environment.
Obstruction and trespassing on the Railway are criminal offences which can
result in a person being arrested and fined up to £1000 for trespassing and
imprisonment for obstruction of the railway.
Network Rail and British Transport Police (BTP) are working in partnership to
improve the safety and security of the railway and to detect and prosecute
any offenders.
