These alternatives range from removable bite planes, which depend on patient compliance, to fixed appliances with bulbous loops to push maxillary anteriors forward. While appearing to be simple, these cases often require many additional months of treatment and adjustments in order to create overjet or remove the crossbite. The QuickFix Anterior Corrector is a fixed, simple, streamlined appliance designed to correct Class III or pseudo Class III cases. Consisting of a .017 x .025 (or a .016 x .025) stainless steel wire, open stainless steel coil spring and archwire lock, the QuickFix uses the maxillary first molars as anchorage to push the maxillary anteriors forward. The SideSwipe, the centerpiece of the QuickFix appliance, fits into the maxillary first molar tube, providing up to 5mm of anterior movement, without having the discomfort of a distally poking archwire. Installation appliance placement (Cont) and activation 2. Select an .016 x .025, or an .017 x .025 SS wire. Place arch locks about 36mm apart in order to fit the locks distal to lateral incisors. Add a 20mm open NiTi coil spring. Seat the arch wire. 3. Lace wire to consolidate the anterior teeth to prevent space opening. 4. Slide the arch lock distally along the arch wire to compress the coil spring. Lock the screws. Compress the spring to the anterior of the 2nd bicuspid. The QuickFix produces rapid correction in four months or less, while providing superior comfort and simplicity for the patient. case selection The QuickFix is effective in treating most Class III, pseudo Class III and anterior crossbite cases. It can also be used in any case where it is necessary to create space for erupting canines and premolars, or where positive overjet is required. appliance placement Installation and activation 1. Place the Side Swipe into the mesial end of the main arch slot of a bonded or banded buccal tube. Bond patient with brackets on upper 2-2. Please note that there are right and left Side Swipe parts. When placed properly, the Side Swipe will extend buccally off of the buccal tube. 5. Cut the distal end of the wire flush to the distal end of the regular molar tube, NOT the SideSwipe tube. Tuck the distal end of the wire lingually and behind the buccal tube. overview Class III or pseudo Class III mixed dentition malocclusions are a common orthodontic problem, for which there are many treatment alternatives.
