ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY FOR A POST IN ACADEMIC PERSONNEL
FACULTY OF ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT –BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
AND ECONOMICS
Applications are accepted for one (1) vacancy in regular employment for the rank
of Associate Professor in the following cognitive area:
Business Administration
Business Economics
Economics
A Doctorate Diploma from a recognized University is required for all ranks of
academic personnel. The minimum requirements for every academic rank are
described on the website of the Open University of Cyprus (www.ouc.ac.cy).
These qualifications are based on the candidate’s years of academic experience,
his research project and his scientific contribution, including his experience in
organising high quality undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
The candidate’s main duties, in addition to experience, are the following:

Long distance teaching, which includes an extensive use of asynchronous
and modern technologies including personal group counselling for pupils
Supervising Master thesis and doctorate pupils
Renewing teaching methodology and the content of Thematic Units of the
Course Programme and preparing digital educational material suitable for
distance learning for pupils.
Organising, coordinating and guiding the Teaching Personnel Group of the
Thematic Unit and ensuring the overall quality of educational work.
In addition to research work and academic experience, the following
constitute predominant criteria for selecting the candidate:
experience and qualifications in open and distance learning (knowledge
and contribution in developing relevant technologies, experience in
teaching, developing suitable educational material and in particular digital
material, contribution in education methodology).
professional experience and in particular developing new educational
programmes
administrative and organisational experience (organising and managing
groups, projects, departments)

international experience (studies, teaching, research) and very good
knowledge of the English language
the possibility of external research funding

τη μετέπειτα γραπτή συγκατάθεση της Κοινοβουλευτικής Επιτροπής Οικονομικών και
Προϋπολογισμού, για εξαίρεσή της από τις πρόνοιες των περί της Απαγόρευσης Πλήρωσης Κενών
Θέσεων στο Δημόσιο και στον Ευρύτερο Δημόσιο Τομέα (Ειδικές Διατάξεις) Νόμων του 2013.

Interested persons must submit two (2) copies in printed form and six (6) in
digital form (CD) – in PDF form (Portable Document Format) or Word by Friday,
13 February 2015 the following:
1. A letter indicating the programme, rank or ranks and the area in which
they are interested, including the date on which they are in a position to
take on duties in the event they are selected
2. A Curriculum Vitae
3. A brief review of their research work, including a short description of their
future scientific plans (up to 1500 words)
4. A list of publications
5. Reprints of their three (3) most representative publications
6. Certified copies of their required qualifications
Furthermore, candidates must ask at least three (3) University Professors to
send confidential reference letters directly to the Open University of Cyprus. The
names and addresses of such Professors must be submitted with the application.
The reference letters must arrive on the final date for submitting applications at
the latest.
The Curriculum Vitae and the review of the Research Project must be submitted
in the Greek or Turkish language and in English.
Applications which do not satisfy the requirements of this announcement will not
be accepted.

with the date 13 February 2015), on the sole responsibility of the interested party.
