Creating A Multiplication Culture
Definition of “Organic”
• Life on life (2 Cor. 1:3-4)
– “And they have conquered him by the blood
of the Lamb and by the word of their
testimony, for they loved not their lives even
unto death” (Rev 12:11)
– “Whether he is a sinner I do not know. One
thing I do know, that though I was blind, now
I see.” (John 9:25)
A Definition of “Disciple”
• Someone who is devoted to:
– Christ (Person) Romans 12:1-2
– His Church (People) Romans 12:9-21
– His Mission (Purpose) Romans 12:3-8
• In other words, someone who is living the
Irreducible Core
What is the Irreducible Core?
The Irreducible Core (IC)
The “Irreducible Core” of the Christian life:
• Love God: Matthew 22:37-38
• Love others: Matthew 22:39-40
• As you go, make disciples: Matthew
28:18-20
It’s “Shema 2.0”: Deuteronomy 6:4-7

Need The Right Progression
Christology (LG / Incarnation / Presence)
Ecclesiology (LO / Relational)
Missiology (MD / Fruitful)
Need The Right Heart
• God’s giving and forgiving heart – love for
the creation community
• God’s objective – reconciliation in and
through Christ of the creation community
• God’s plan / method – the reconciled
reconciling others in Christ = ministry of
reconciliation

Two Kingdoms, One Throne
• There are two kingdoms, light & darkness,
Heaven & Hell; but there is only one throne,
the human heart (the center of volition and
will)
– Matthew 6:21 – what has your heart is your
treasure.
• What you behold, holds you. This is revealed in your
T.E.R.M.
Two Kingdoms, One Throne
• Discipleship can be thought of as the
process of helping someone adopt a
Kingdom-centric worldview, and seeing
them live it accordingly.
– This is not primarily informational, but rather it
is transformational.
Why Community is So Difficult
Fear
Core Emotion
Fear does not trust / separates
Our fear has a…
The Wound >
The Lie / Contract >
The Relational Style
The Jesus Way
• “Life on life” – teaching, example,
demonstration (Jn 14:8-14, Romans 15:18-20, 1
Cor. 11:1)
• Life was the curriculum (As you go, Luke 24)
• Holistic, not compartmentalized (Life, soul,
mind)
• A call to a way of life not a way of belief
Types of Followers
1. Crowd
2. Casual
3. Committed
• Moving from “committed” to “devoted”
“After we are converted to Christ we must be
converted to His Cross.” Kenneth Boa
Jesus’ Time Investment
• Jesus spent little time with the crowds,
more time with those who sought him out
and MOST of His time with His chosen
disciples
• He TAUGHT the crowds about the
Kingdom, but He EXPLAINED the
Kingdom to His disciples
– Circles of relationship: crowds, 70, 12, 3
– Ontological vs. economic value
Jesus’ Time Investment
• "Better to give a year or so to one or two
people who learn what it means to conquer
for Christ than to spend a lifetime with a
congregation just keeping the program
going.“
» Robert Colman, Master Plan of Evangelism
(1963)
Circles of relationships: 3, 12,
72, multitudes
• The Multitudes: the crowd/congregation
• The 72: “Lay” leaders/leaders in training
• The 12: Strategic Transformers
• The 3: The Catalytic Leaders
His teaching revolved around
three things–all were “I/Thou”:
• Who God was (God-awareness)
• Who they were in relation to God (Selfawareness)
• Who they were in relation to others (Otherawareness)
We remember:
• 10% of what we read
• 20% percent of what we hear
• 30% of what we see
• 50 % of what hear and see
• 70% of what we say ourselves
• 90% of what do ourselves
Cycle of Learning
• Disciple learns by hearing
• Disciple learns by seeing how it is done
• Disciple learns by doing it
• Disciple learns by teaching it to others
Relational Learning Model
• I do, you watch
• I do, you help
• You do, I'll help
• You do, I watch
• You do - someone else watches
Holistic Development of Disciples
and Leaders
Beyond task, into life
The Pastoral Task
• See Christ formed in people
– “…my little children, for whom I am again in
the anguish of childbirth until Christ is formed
in you!” (Gal. 4:19, ESV).
Spiritual Development
Self
Family
Otherss
Personal Life-Sphere
Community
Identity
(Son / Daughter)
Personal Life-Sphere
• Identity – we are sons/daughters born into
the family of God
– The foundation of who I am In Christ
• Capacity – We are servants whose hearts
are being developed to be like Jesus’
– How I am being shaped in Christ
– “I will run in the way of your commandments
when you enlarge my heart!” (Ps 119:32).
Personal Life-Sphere
• Destiny – We are stewards who have a
place of responsibility in the Kingdom
“family business.”
– How Christ expresses Himself through me
economically
– This is my contribution to the family business
Primary Developmental
Questions
1. Who is Christ in this person?
2. What is Christ doing in this person?
3. What does Christ want to do through this
person?
4. How does this person relate with others?
In community?
Three Skill Sets
• Personal
• Relational
• Missional / Ministerial
