T1rho MRI
Hershey Medical Center

There is moderate B0 field heterogeneity in this image. This field heterogeneity causes banding
artifacts.
It’s difficult to see the artifact because it appears differently in each image. Compare closely the
overall signal homogeneity in the ventricular cavity or myocardium and you will see it. Compare white
arrows.
The artifact is obvious on the movie in the upper-right corner.
potential solutions to resolve the B0 artifact
• Check the shim mode.
– Is it ‘tune up’ or ‘standard’?
• Set the center frequency using the the frequency
scout (product sequence).
• Shim locally using the local shim interface.
– Localize this region around the heart.
– Try a local shim in the short and long axis.
• Copy the shim from a previous scan.
– Right-click on the previous scan and select ‘copy
parameter’ > ‘adjust volume’
