The Definition of Faith

Making Real the Unrealities of Hope
Things hoped for. Faith gives it substance.

Faith is in the Present Tense
Believe that you receive. Receiving and having. This principle covers
every area.

God Never Changes
God keeps His word. God does not change. Faith changes things.

The Action of Believing
Believe is an ‘Action’ word. Faith always says. Faith never relents.

Acting on the Word
Faith without works is dead. Two things angered Jesus.
Satan challenges real faith.

Real Bible Faith
Real Bible faith calls yourself what the Bible calls you.
But the word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart.
The Definition of Faith

We need a clear understanding of WHAT FAITH IS so that we
can have a CLEAR UNDERSTANDING of how to operate
and LIVE BY THE FAITH OF GOD. GOD-GIVEN FAITH
SHAPES THE WORLD AROUND YOU BY THE WORDS
YOU SPEAK OUT that agree with the Will of God. BELIEVE
THAT THOSE WORDS WILL DEFINITELY COME TO
PASS, WITHOUT DOUBT. THE FAITH THAT COMES
FROM GOD IS BELIEVING THAT YOU HAVE RECEIVED
THE THING YOU DESIRED OF GOD AND OBTAINED IT,
AT THE MOMENT OF

PRAYER according to His will and His Word.
The Definition of Faith

This is the FAITH THAT COMES FROM GOD IN
OPERATION – SPEAKING TO MOUNTAINS or
the
seemingly
immovable
obstacles
and
circumstances in your life, and being CONFIDENT
THAT YOUR WORDS WILL COME TO PASS. It is
putting your GOD-GIVEN DESIRES INTO WORDS
and ADDRESSING THEM TO GOD, confident that
HE WILL BRING THEM TO PASS. With a renewed
mind, you can know what His will is, and pray
accordingly (Romans 12:2-3).
The Definition of Faith

Mark 11:22-24 “So Jesus answered and said to
them, HAVE FAITH IN GOD. For assuredly I say
unto you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be
removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not
doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he
says will come to pass, he will have whatever he
SAYS. Therefore I say to you. WHATEVER
THINGS YOU ASK WHEN YOU PRAY, BELIEVE
THAT YOU RECEIVE THEM, AND YOU WILL
HAVE THEM”.
The Definition of Faith

Making Real the Unrealities of Hope


Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is THE SUBSTANCE OF THINGS HOPED
FOR, THE EVIDENCE OF THINGS NOT SEEN”.
The Unrealities of Hope
Our HOPES and our DREAMS are the things that
STIMULATE OUR IMAGINATION: the things WE
MEDITATE ON, LONG FOR AND GREATLY DESIRE and
the things WE SET OUR MINDS ON. They are
UNREALITIES because they are in the IMAGINATION OF
THE MIND and not in the REAL TANGIBLE WORLD.
The Definition of Faith

Things
We are not talking about NOTHING – undefined or vague things – but about
DEFINITE, PARTICULAR and SPECIFIC THINGS that we can picture in our
minds.

Stimulation
HOPE IS THE ANCHOR OF THE SOUL, which is the MIND, EMOTIONS and
WILL. Without things to hope for, dream about or envisage, we will be mentally
and emotionally insecure and will live in INDECISION. The IMAGINATION
MUST BE STIMULATED FOR HOPE TO BE STRONG. If the imagination is
wrongly stimulated HOPE WILL BE LOW. Our minds receive input from three
basic realms:



THE SPIRITUAL or
THE PHYSICAL, and in this context,
THE WORLDLY REALM
The Definition of Faith
THE WORD OF GOD IS SPIRIT and IT IS LIFE.
For us to have HOPE we must allow the WORD to
stimulate our imagination with the PROMISES OF
GOD.

Faith gives it Substance

Lay Hold of the Things
This is what brings the UNREALITIES OF HOPE INTO
THE REALM OF REALITY. Faith is that TENACIOUS
ENDURANCE that refuses to CAVE IN and GIVE UP.
The Definition of Faith

Faith Refers to a Hope in the Present

Hebrews 11:1 “NOW FAITH IS the substance of things hoped for ...”.

Believe that you Receive

What must I Believe?
I must believe that I receive RIGHT NOW! I must believe that I HAVE
RECEIVED ... even if it is for a future date, I still believe in the PRESENT
TIME that I already have been granted my request. Faith does not operate
for hope AT SOME FUTURE DATE. Saved Christians have already
inherited Heaven and are seated with Christ in heavenly places. God
knows when to bestow His blessings on His children, but we are already
blessed with the promise ... and having the secure promise makes it so
much easier to wait for God’s timing.
The Definition of Faith

Purchase a Receiving Date Stamp
Yonggi Cho says that he keeps an accurate
record of his prayer requests. The date at the
top of the prayer list is the RECEIVING DATE
STAMP. That is the date when the thing you
desired was received in the spiritual realm, in
the PRESENT.
The Definition of Faith

Receiving and Having
This is the PROMISE OF GOD which, if you do not fulfi l the
condition you will not receive – the condition is – BELIEVE
THAT YOU RECEIVE. The actual POSSESSION is still to
come but FAITH ACTS AS IF THE FUTURE IS HERE. Faith
makes room and prepares for possession. Faith boasts as if you
ALREADY HAVE IT! – Just like parents expecting a child.
They prepare the room with clothes, a cot, a bath, etc. and like
a young couple having a house built, they talk about the tiles,
carpets, etc. FAITH IS LIKE THE DATE OF CONCEPTION
OR THE DAY THE CONTRACT IS SIGNED.
The Definition of Faith

This Principle Covers Every Area

Salvation
FAITH takes hold on Christ and ALL HIS LIFE-GIVING and SAVING
POWER.

The Holy Spirit
FAITH DRINKS and actually RECEIVES – and CO-OPERATES with the
Holy

Healing
FAITH RECEIVES and TAKES ACTION in the Lord’s HEALING
POWER.
The Definition of Faith

God Never Changes
Faith always remembers that ... God the Father and
the Lord Jesus Christ never fail!

God keeps His Word
Faith will never blame God for failure. Faith knows
God always KEEPS HIS PROMISES! God always
backs up His Word and MAKES IT COME TO
PASS!
The Definition of Faith

God does not Change
If there is a failure it is because our faith is NOT
BASED ON THE WORD OF GOD or we have not
met with the CONDITIONS OF THE WORD OF
GOD.

Our Prayer will not change God
There is NO FOUNDATION FOR CONFIDENCE in
things that are CONTRARY to the WORD OF GOD.
The Definition of Faith

How can I Know Then?
This is the NATURE OF OUR WEAKNESS ... the fact that
YOU DO NOT KNOW, the fact that you are unsure of what
God has said is an opportunity to grow and mature. You can
only get to know God’s voice as you try to hear Him and get to
know Him.

Find out What God says
Only when you try to find out WHAT GOD SAYS, DO YOU
BUILD A FOUNDATION FOR FAITH and CONFIDENCE.
We can be tenacious and steadfast ONLY WHEN WE KNOW
THE WORD OF GOD.
The Definition of Faith

Conform to the Word of God
Our prayer and faith will not change God, so we should
change our prayer and faith to conform to HIS WORD.

Faith Changes Things
Faith changes circumstances, situations, adversities, etc. TO
CONFORM TO THE WILL OF GOD. Faith also keeps
something that is already in line with God’s Word to STAY IN
LINE WITH GOD’S WORD.

The Definition of Faith

T he Action of Believing


Mark 11:24 “Whatever things you ask when you pray, BELIEVE THAT
YOU RECEIVE THEM, and you will have them”.
Believe is an ‘Action’ word
The word ‘BELIEVE’ has its roots in an old English word
‘BELIVE’. The opposite meaning of this word is ‘BELIE’.
When you say: Your actions belie your words, you are saying
that the person’s actions CONTRADICT HIS WORD. Believe
means TO LIVE OUT YOUR FAITH. It means ACTIONS
THAT CONFIRM YOUR WORDS.
The Definition of Faith

Believing is Faith in Action
It is doing something that makes it OBVIOUS TO
GOD AND EVERYONE that you have faith. We
should make it OBVIOUS that we believe that we
receive.

Faith always Says
IF GOD GIVES IT – I TAKE IT NOW
The Definition of Faith

Faith never Relents
The moment we look back and give up is the moment
DOUBT HAS COME.

Doubt and Unbelief
We treat them like we treat any temptation. The devil
will always come with: HAS GOD SAID? or: HAS
GOD NOT SAID? He will use thoughts, negative
media and people. Jesus had to confront Peter.
The Definition of Faith

Acting on the Word
The tragedy about hearers only is that they think that because they have
heard the WORD it automatically makes them doers. Mere hearers are
FORGETFUL, for what they have heard disintegrates in the face of
pressure and calamity. They forget the WORD OF GOD AND REVERT
TO NATURAL INSTINCTS. The sower sowed the Word, but only a few
retained. The others let PERSECUTION, TRIALS, PLEASURES, CARES
OF THIS LIFE, etc. rob the Word from them.

Faith without Works is Dead

Healed People should Act on their Healing

Redeemed People should Act on their Redemption
The Definition of Faith

Two Things Angered Jesus

Unbelief amongst His disciples
Hypocrisy amongst the Pharisees

When people question our integrity we get angry, HOW
MUCH MORE GOD.

Satan Challenges Real Faith
He will say ... LOOK ... at the circumstances and obstacles.
The Definition of Faith

Begin Now!
Commit yourself to acting on the Word of God
NOW. If the Word says ‘REJOICE’ then
REJOICE no matter how you feel; ‘YOU ARE
HEALED’, then co-operate with the Lord.
Take action – thank the Lord – with the
HEALING WORD God speaks.
The Definition of Faith

Real Bible Faith
Real BIBLE FAITH calls yourself what the Bible
calls you. Receives what the Word says about you as
‘IT IS WRITTEN’ without wondering why it is not
working for you, and why it seems so far from the
truth in your life. Real Bible Faith speaks and
meditates in the Word until the hope of it is SO
STRONG IN YOUR HEART that you are fully
persuaded.
The Definition of Faith

Deut. 30:11-14 “For this COMMANDMENT which I
command you TODAY, it is NOT TOO MYSTERIOUS
FOR YOU, NOR IS IT FAR OFF. It is not in heaven,
that you should say, Who will ascend into heaven for
us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?
Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, Who
will go over the sea for us and bring it to us that we
may hear it and do it? BUT THE WORD IS NEAR
YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART.
THAT YOU MAY DO IT”.
