THE VIALS
Revelation 16:1
And I heard a great voice out of the temple
saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and
pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon
the earth.
VENGEANCE BELONGS TO GOD
Psalm 94:1-5
O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to
whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.
Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward
to the proud.
LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the
wicked triumph?
How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all
the workers of iniquity boast themselves?
They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict
thine heritage.
GOD WILL AVENGE
Romans 12:19
Dearly beloved, avenge
not yourselves, but rather
give place unto wrath: for
it is written, Vengeance is
mine; I will repay, saith
the Lord.
Revelation 6:10
And they cried with a
loud voice, saying,
How long, O Lord, holy
and true, dost thou not
judge and avenge our
blood on them that
dwell on the earth?
GOD’S WRATH ENDS
Revelation 15:1
And I saw another sign
in heaven, great and
marvellous, seven angels
having the seven last
plagues; for in them is
filled up the wrath of
God.



The 7 last plagues.
With the completion of
the judgments in the
vials, God’s wrath is
completed.
Notice that the
resurrection to
judgment is included in
this time period.
7 ANGELS INVOLVED
Rev 15:6-7
And the seven angels
came out of the temple,
having the seven
plagues, clothed in pure
and white linen, and
having their breasts
girded with golden
girdles.
And one of the four
beasts gave unto the
seven angels seven
golden vials full of the
wrath of God, who liveth
for ever and ever.

GOD’S WRATH – WHERE?
Rev 16:2
And the first went, and
poured out his vial
upon the earth; and
there fell a noisome
and grievous sore
upon the men which
had the mark of the
beast, and upon them
which worshipped his
image.

Matt 17:15
Lord, have mercy on
my son: for he is
lunatick, and sore
vexed: for ofttimes he
falleth into the fire,
and oft into the water.


‘lunatick’ NT:4583

THE WEATHER IN FRANCE









1778 – 1781
Good.
1782 – 1789
Gradual deterioration.
1784 – 1785
Poor growing seasons.
Autumn 1787
Excessive rain preventing planting.
Winter 1787-88 Very mild allowing pests to survive.
Spring 1788
Cool spring, poor for growth.
Summer 1788
Drought, crops shriveled.
July 13, 1788
Horrible hailstorm devastating crops.
Winter 1788-89 Very cold, great hardship.
… Resulting in a food crisis in 1789 the year of the
start of the French Revolution.
Pg. 52, Stormy Wind, Benson, CSSS, 1983
THE WEATHER FACTOR
The way in which the bad weather, and consequent bad
harvests, helped to bring about the revolutionary
situation is stated by David Thomson: “Even nature
added to the crisis. The harvests of 1787 and 1788
were bad, partly because of great hailstones in 1788.
This brought extreme social distress, which forced many
desperate and hungry men into the few large towns. It
was this that introduced the element of violence,
because it made the Paris mob and led to the peasant
riots of the countryside in 1789.”
Pg.28, Europe since Napoleon, Pelican, Middlesex, 1966
1260 YEARS
“We see in all this a precision of timing by the Almighty.
It would not have done for the French Revolution to
have occurred at any time, for God had decreed in
Daniel 7:25 that the little horn power of the papacy
would last 1260 years. A significant event in the
establishing of the papal power had occurred in 533
when the Emperor Justinian in Constantinople declared
the Bishop of Rome to be supreme bishop of the church.
This time period expired in 1793, by which time the
French Revolution had developed to its full extent, for
this was the year when the heads of Louis XVI and Marie
Antoinette fell to the flashing blade of the guillotine, and
when the Roman Catholic system of worship was
abolished in France and the worship of reason exalted in
its place.”
Pg.52, Stormy Wind, Benson, CSSS, 1983
THE FIRST VIAL
Rev 16:2
And the first went, and
poured out his vial upon
the earth; and there fell a
noisome and grievous
sore upon the men which
had the mark of the
beast, and upon them
which worshipped his
image.




The French Revolution
1789 – 1795.
The spirit of resistance
to both King and
priest.
It started in France
and quickly threatened
the surrounding
nations.
It was limited to the
nations bearing the
mark of the beast.
THE SECOND VIAL
Rev 16:3
And the second angel
poured out his vial upon
the sea; and it became as
the blood of a dead man:
and every living soul died
in the sea.


The work of the
English navy (1793 –
1798) in order to keep
Napoleon focused on
the judgment of
Catholic Europe.
Napoleon’s thrust into
Egypt and Russia both
came to nothing as he
went beyond the work
for which he was
commissioned.
THE THIRD VIAL
Rev 16:4
And the third angel
poured out his vial upon
the rivers and fountains
of waters; and they
became blood.



During the years 1796 –
1805 Napoleon
concentrated on winning
in the alpine region of
Europe.
In one year he won 26
battles.
Armies from Italy, Austria
and the Papal States fell
even help from Russia
was insufficient to help.
THE FOURTH VIAL
Rev 16:8
And the fourth angel
poured out his vial upon
the sun; and power was
given unto him to scorch
men with fire.



Judgments during 1804 –
1809 when Napoleon
took the battle to the
Emperor of Austria.
In the battle of Austerlitz
he defeated the
combined forces of
Austria and Russia.
The Holy Roman Empire
came to an end.
THE FIFTH VIAL
Rev 16:10
And the fifth angel
poured out his vial upon
the seat of the beast; and
his kingdom was full of
darkness;




1798-1809
Having taken the civil
authority away from
Austria he likewise took
the religious authority
away from Rome.
The Pope was taken
prisoner in 1798 but the
Papacy was soon
restored.
The Pope was taken
prisoner again in 1809
and the Papal States
were added to France.
THE SIXTH VIAL
Rev 16:12
And the sixth angel
poured out his vial upon
the great river Euphrates;
and the water thereof
was dried up, that the
way of the kings of the
east might be prepared.




1807 – present times.
With the work for the
Lord over, the Turkish
empire started to crumble
in 1807.
The Resurrection and
Judgment of the Dead
takes place within the
scope of this vial.
The gathering together of
the nations in the Middle
East has begun.
THE SEVENTH VIAL
Rev 16:17
And the seventh angel
poured out his vial into
the air; and there came a
great voice out of the
temple of heaven, from
the throne, saying, It is
done.





A future event.
Into the air – universal.
The great judgments of
YHWH at Armageddon
happen during this vial.
The Lord Jesus Christ and
the saints are involved in
these judgments.
The final and thorough
judgment against the
false church at Rome.
JUDGMENT BUT NO REPENTANCE
Rev 16:9-11
And men were
scorched with great
heat, and blasphemed
the name of God, which
hath power over these
plagues: and they
repented not to give
him glory.
… And blasphemed the
God of heaven because
of their pains and their
sores, and repented not
of their deeds.



Like Pharoah of old, by
hardening their hearts
and not repenting, the
judgments became more
severe.
Did God expect them to
repent?
Like Israel of old, did they
discount the chastening
of the Lord?
THE DAY OF GOD’S WRATH!

Job 21:30
That the wicked is
reserved to the day
of destruction? they
shall be brought
forth to the day of
wrath.


This is the consistent
vision the Scriptures
offer for the future of
the wicked.
This must be a
particular day.
If it meant that each
of the wicked was to
meet his day of wrath
prior to the day of
God’s wrath, it would
contradict other
Scriptures. (i.e. Psalm
73)
THE DAY OF GOD’S WRATH!

John 3:36
He that believeth on the
Son hath everlasting life:
and he that believeth not
the Son shall not see
life; but the wrath of God
abideth on him.



Not everyone hath the
wrath of God abiding
on him – but those
‘who believe not’.
These are the people
who weigh the
evidence and disobey
the command to
repent.
This statement of
Scripture is every bit
as effective today as it
was when first
spoken.
This statement does
not apply to people
already ‘in covenant’
or ‘baptized’.
THE DAY OF GOD’S WRATH!
1 Thess 1:9-10
For they themselves shew of
us what manner of entering
in we had unto you, and how
ye turned to God from idols
to serve the living and true
God;
And to wait for his Son from
heaven, whom he raised from
the dead, even Jesus, which
delivered us from the wrath
to come.



For the Thessalonians
‘the wrath to come’ can
only have reference to
those who disobeyed the
command to repent.
The judgment being
referred to had no
reference to baptized
believers as they had
been delivered from it.
Christians were not
delivered from all forms
of wrath. (i.e. torture)
THE DAY OF GOD’S WRATH!

Rev 11:18
And the nations were angry,
and thy wrath is come, and
the time of the dead, that
they should be judged, and
that thou shouldest give
reward unto thy servants
the prophets, and to the
saints, and them that fear
thy name, small and great;
and shouldest destroy them
which destroy the earth.”


Note the timing of this
prophecy: angry nations;
God’s wrath; resurrection;
judgment of the dead;
reward for the prophets;
destruction for the
corrupter’s of the earth.
This could only be
referring to the time of
the coming of the Lord
Jesus Christ at the
beginning of His kingdom.
Notice that this is
speaking about what will
happen at the ‘bema’ of
Christ and the time of ‘his
wrath’ and giving of
rewards to his saints are
blended together.
THE DAY OF GOD’S WRATH!
Rev 19:15
And out of his mouth
goeth a sharp sword,
that with it he should
smite the nations: and
he shall rule them with
a rod of iron: and he
treadeth the winepress
of the fierceness and
wrath of Almighty God.
 This is the work of



the Lord Jesus Christ
and His saints.
It is the work of the
Lord to carry out the
judgment written.
This theme is the
answer of Isaiah
66:15,16
It is typical of the
judgments written
about this time is
Zeph.3:8,9
