Helping, Documenting and Monitoring Trans* Rights Violations, Discrimination and Violence in the Philippines Charlese Saballe Society of Transsexual Women of the Philippines Trans* people often experience harassment, discrimination and violence (verbal, emotional, psychological, physical,sexual etc.) because of their gender nonconforming, transgressing and variant lives These cases are often unreported because victims often feel powerless to do an action and they often do not have the knowledge as to which authorities to complain to Transgender Helpdesk Project Society of Transsexual Women of the Philippines Cases of discrimination and violence are not documented and developments on the cases are not monitored so no follow-up action is being done Transgender Helpdesk Project Society of Transsexual Women of the Philippines i.) to create a channel and provide tools for trans*Filipinos to fight discrimination in education, employment, accessing facilities, social services and public accommodations and cases of violence against their persons Transgender Helpdesk Project Society of Transsexual Women of the Philippines ii.) to empower trans*Filipinos by helping them help themselves in seeking redress iii.) to document, monitor and compile a database of cases of trans* discrimination and violence in the Philippines. Status Remarks Pending Shai resigned from the job while the case was still being reviewed by her company STRAP helped in drafting letter of complaint and providing Patyy with a trans 101 deck for her to present to the HR Case closed Patty was given a key to the handicapped restroom Workplace Rauther applied for a job at an art gallery. She underwent the application process and was eventually hired. But when she was about to sign the job offer, she was first asked to submit her documents. When the employer noticed that she was male on her birth certificate, the offer was rescinded. Complained in CHR STRAP helped in drafting letter of complaint and filing of the complaint Pending Rauther got a job in a different company Workplace Mara was barred from using the female restroom and female sleeping quarters in her company.
