Key Verses
By faith we
understand that
the universe was
formed at God's
command, so that
what is seen was
not made out of
what was visible.
Heb. 11:3
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the
evidence of things not seen Heb. 11:1
Charles Capps : "Faith is the substance, the raw material....Faith is
the substance that God used to create the universe, and He
transported that Faith with His words....Faith is the substance of
things, but you can't see faith. Faith is a spiritual force." (Changing
the Seen & Shaping the Unseen [Tulsa, OK: Harrison House, 1980],
14-15.)
Charles Capps : "He framed the world with His words. You can't
build without substance. He took words--faith-Filled words were
God's substance. Here, essentially, is what God did. God filled His
words with faith. He used His words as containers to hold His faith
and contain that spiritual force and transport it out there into the
vast darkness by saying 'Light be!' That's the way God
transported His faith causing creation and
transformation." (Dynamics of Faith & Confession [Tulsa,
OK: Harrison House, 1987], 28-29, emphasis in original.)
Copeland - ..We're gonna be Word people and we're gonna stay
Word people and we're gonna be wealthy Word people in the things
of God, and when you're wealthy ng in God you're content all the
time, all the time. I can do with a dollar and a half than people out
there can do with ten thousand dollars. Now you believe that? All
right, reach out here like there's a big ol' lever stickin' up there in
front and git ahold of it, and I mean you git it in your hand. You got
your teeth gritted, you got a good grip on it? Rip it down some
more. And say this ... money come out to me now! (Audience
shouting with Copeland.) Money come out to me now! Third time ...
money come out to me now! Now you shout about it.
Fred Price : "If you keep talking death, that is what you are going to
have. If you keep talking sickness and disease, that is what you are
going to have, because you are going to create the reality of them
with your own mouth. That is a divine law." (Fred Price, Realm, 29).
With the “God Kind of Faith” You as little
“gods” can create, health and wealth.
"What do you need? Start creating it. Start speaking about it. Start
speaking it into being. Speak to your billfold. Say, 'You big, thick
billfold full of money." Speak to your checkbook. Say, 'You
checkbook, you. You've never been so prosperous since I owned you.
You're just jammed full of money" Marylyn Hickey
Kenneth Copeland : "What you are saying is exactly what you are
getting now. If you are living in poverty and lack and want, change
what you are saying.... The powerful force of the spiritual world that
creates the circumstances around us is controlled by the words of the
mouth." (The Laws of Prosperity, Kenneth Copeland, Ft. Worth:
Kenneth Copeland Publications, 1974).
Kenneth Hagin : "Jesus used the fig tree to demonstrate that He had
that God-kind of faith, then He said to the disciples--and to us--'You
have that kind of faith.'...Jesus said He had the God-kind of faith;
He encouraged His disciples to exercise that kind of faith; and He
said that 'whosoever' could do it. . . . That is why Jesus said,
'whosoever shall say . . . and shall not doubt IN HIS HEART.' "
(Having Faith in Your Faith [Tulsa, OK: Kenneth Hagin Ministries,
1988], 3, emphasis in original.)
Charles Capps : "God filled His words with faith to cause the things
He said to come into manifestation. There was an image inside Him.
He expressed it in words." (The Substance of Things [Tulsa, OK:
Harrison House, 1990], 19.)
"Say to your body, 'You're whole, body! Why, you just
function so beautifully and so well. Why, body, you
never have any problems. You're a strong, healthy
body.' Or speak to your leg, or speak to your foot, or
speak to your neck, or speak to your back; and once
you have spoken and believe that you have received,
and don't go back on it. Speak to your wife, speak to
your husband, speak to your circumstances; and
speak faith to them to create in them and God will
create what you are speaking." (Claim Your Miracles
audiotape, #186, side 2)
"God's reason for creating Adam was His desire to reproduce Himself. I mean a
reproduction of Himself. And in the garden of Eden He did that. He was not a little
like God. He was not almost like God. He was not subordinate to God even. And
Adam was as much like God as you can get, Just the same as Jesus when He came
into the earth, He said "If you've seen Me, you've seen the Father." He wasn? a lot
like God - He's God manifested in the flesh. And I want you to know something Adam in the garden of Eden was God manifested in the flesh." (Kenneth
Copeland, "Following the Faith of Abraham 1" (Kenneth Copeland Ministries,
1989, audio tape #01-3001, side 1)
"Any of it [teaching] that is good is in the Word of
God, and any that is not in the Word of God is not
good. I am a Bible Christian and if an archangel
with a wingspread as broad as a constellation
shining like the sun were to
come and offer me some new
truth, I'd ask him for a
reference. If he could not show
me where it is found in the
Bible, I would bow him out and
say, 'I'm awfully sorry, you
don't bring any references with you'" A.W. Tozer
The Distortion of the Cross
Four atonement-related errors on the part of the Word of Faith
Teachers:
One
Christ was re-created on the cross from divine to demonic. (To put it
in Faith vernacular, Jesus took on the very nature of Satan himself.)
Two
Your redemption was not secured on the cross, but in hell. In fact,
many Faith teachers claim that Christ's torture by all the demons of
hell was a "ransom" God paid to Satan so that He could get back
into a universe from which He had been banished.
Three
Jesus was reborn ( or born again) in in the very pit of hell
Four
Christ was reincarnated through His rebirth in hell and that
those who (like Christ) are born again can become “incarnated
as well”.
The Bible Says:
I was constrained to write unto you exhorting you to
contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all
delivered unto the saints. Jude 3
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season;
reprove , rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and
doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not
endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they
heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And
they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall
be turned unto fables. 5 But watch thou in all things… I

6 Their visions are false and their divinations a lie. They say, "The LORD

fulfilled.
7 Have you not seen false visions and uttered lying divinations when you say, "The
LORD declares", though I have not spoken?
"Results can never be the criterion by which the truth of an
idea is proven. If that were the case, charismatics would have to
admit that Mary Baker Eddy is a prophetess and that Christian
Science is true gospel. Likewise, the numerous healings and miracles
occurring in the Faith movement are not necessarily signs from God
that the Faith gospel is the Gospel of the New Testament.
Charismatics who naively assume that healings vindicate truth are
overlooking the fact that almost every major religion and cult the
world has ever known has produced healings. For every god there is
a religion, and in every religion there are healings." D.R. McConnel

false teachers and teachings
We must not partake of their deeds Eph 5:6-14
we must have no fellowship with them if they do not repent
(Eph. 5:11),
We must try them (I John 4: 1)
we must rebuke them (Titus 1:13)
we must withdraw from them (2 Thes. 3:6),
we must separate from them (2 Cor. 6:17),
we must turn away from them (2 Tim 3:5,7),
we must mark them and avoid them (Rom. 16:17),
we must not receive them into our house (2 John 10).
We are to reject heretics (Titus 3:10).
ESSEK WILLIAM KENYON
Evangelist, Pastor, Bible teacher and Author
The true father of the modern-day
Faith movement. 1867-1948
Kenyon attended the Emerson college of Oratory in Boston, a
veritable breeding ground for New Thought philosophy. The major
doctrines of New Thought should be very familiar to Faith movement
devotees: Health or healing, abundance or prosperity, wealth and
happiness. These ideas are evidenced in Kenyon's writings and by his
students. Dan McConnell explains the New Thought system:
"...New Thought was a system of cultic belief that taught that
true reality is spiritual, that the spiritual is the cause of all
physical effects, and that the human mind through positive
mental attitude and positive confession has the power to
create its own reality; either health and wealth; or sickness
and poverty." 84
The founder of New Thought philosophy, Phineas P. Quimby,
whose ideas gained prominence toward the close of the 19th century,
was also a student of spiritism, occultism, hypnosis and other
expressions of parapsychology. It is also interesting to note that
Quimby, the man whose ideas Kenyon studied and embraced, and
who, in turn, was copied by Hagin.
Kenyon's own daughter, Ruth Kenyon Houseworth, easily
recognizes her father's message upon the lips of Faith leaders. She
says:
"They've (Faith teachers) all copied from my dad. They've changed it
a little bit and added their own touch....but they couldn't change the
wording...These that are coming along now that have been in the
ministry for just a few years and claiming that this is something that
they are just starting, it makes you laugh a little bit. It's very difficult
for some people to be big enough to give credit to somebody else."87
A man who, on occasion, ministered with Kenyon was one
long time friend John Kennington, pastor of Emmanuel Temple in
Portland, Oregon. He has this to say concerning the plagiarism of
Kenyon's teachings:
"Today Kenyon's teachings are in the ascendancy. Via the electronic
church or in the printed page I readily recognize not only Kenyon's
concepts, but at times , I recognize pure plagiarism, for I can almost
tell you book, chapter and page where the material is coming from.
Kenyon has become the 'father' of the so-called 'Faith'
movement."
Later, in the same statement he made this comment:
"At one time I was a blind follower of E.W. Kenyon....Now with the
passing of a little time and with a little more understanding I have
come to realize that E.W. Kenyon has simply 'baptized' many
concepts from Christian Science. In so doing, he became a source for
a form of 'Pentecostal Christian Science', even though Kenyon himself
was not a Pentecostal." 88
Many have identified certain Faith teachings as being carbon
copies of Christian Science dogma. Kennington was often puzzled by
the similarity in what was being taught by Kenyon and Christian
Science. On one occasion, he remembers Kenyon admitting the
connection and saying, "All that Christian Science lacks is the
blood of Jesus Christ." Kenyon also admitted that he, "...freely
drew the water of his thinking from this well." 89
Due to the Faith movement's unbiblical ties with Kenyon and
his association with the Metaphysical cults, we may conclude that
Hagin, Copeland and co., however unknowingly, are in fact espousing
teachings which are neither Biblical nor orthodox. If the root be
cultic, so must be also the fruit. Although there is strong evangelical
and Pentecostal theology throughout the Faith movement's teachings,
it's cultic origins are readily seen at key points. It has been said that
the Faith movement is, in fact, a cultic infiltration of the Pentecostal
and Charismatic movements.
Kenyon sought to forge a synthesis of metaphysical and
evangelical thought, "...in order to help the traditional Church provide
for its members the missing supernatural element that caused many
to defect to the cults. The resultant Faith theology is a strange
mixture of Biblical fundamentalism and New Thought metaphysics.“
Although proponents of Faith theology have attempted to
sanitize the metaphysical concept of the "power of mind" by
substituting in its stead the "force of faith," for all practical purposes
they have made a distinction without a difference.
The plagiarism of Kenyon's teachings by Kenneth Hagin is
proof that the Faith teachers are not getting their doctrine directly
from God, but merely from human beings. Hagin's widespread use of
Kenyon's material fits into the pattern of many movements. History
shows that leaders of new religious movements/factions often take
on ideas made popular by a preceding group, mold them into a new
form and add on a few new ideas of their own. Solomon wisely said,
"There is nothing new under the sun" (Eccl. 1:9).
E.W. Kenyon : "Man [i.e., Adam] was actually Born Again when he sinned.
That is, he was born of the Devil. He became a partaker of Satanic Nature."
(The Father and His Family, 17th ed. [Lynnwood, WA: Kenyon's Gospel
Publishing Society, 1964], 48.)
E.W. Kenyon : "Adam evidently had a legal right to transfer this dominion and
authority into the hands of the enemy. God has been obliged through the long
period of human history to recognize Satan's legal standing, and legal right
and authority, and on this ground, and this only, can we understand the legal
side of the Plan of Redemption. . . . Adam had legally transferred to him
[Satan] the Authority with which God had invested him." (The Father and His
Family, 38-39.)
E.W. Kenyon : "Jesus was conceived without sin. His body was not mortal. His
body did not become mortal until the Father laid our sin nature upon Him
when He hung on the cross. The moment that He became sin, His body
became mortal, only then could He die. When this happened. spiritual death,
the nature of Satan, took possession of His Spirit....He was to partake of
Spiritual Death, the nature of the Adversary. . . .Jesus knew that the moment
had come, and He was to he made Sin. He must partake of that dread nature
of the Adversary. His body would become mortal. Satan would become His
master. . . . He [Jesus] had been lifted up as a serpent. Serpent is Satan.
Jesus knew He was going to be lifted up, united with the Adversary." (What
Happened from the Cross to the Throne [Lynnwood, WA: Kenyon's Gospel
Publishing Society, 1969], 20, 33, 44-45.)

Kenneth Copeland, in a taped message entitled "Why all are not
healed" (# 01-4001), stated, "Several people that I know had
criticized and called that Faith bunch out of Tulsa a cult. And some of
'em are dead right today in an early grave because of it, and there's
more than one of them got cancer." On the one hand, Faith leaders
encourage us to search the Scriptures, but if after having done so, we
dare question their interpretation, we are threatened with an early
grave, or at the very least cancer! I feel certain that Faith followers
are astute enough in their thinking to realize this catch-22 situation.
Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a
gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby
clothes also comes in . 3 If you show special attention to
the man wearing fine clothes and say, "Here's a good seat
for you," but say to the poor man, "You stand there" or
"Sit on the floor by my feet," 4 have you not
discriminated among yourselves and become judges with
evil thoughts? 5 Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God
chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be
rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised
those who love him? 6 But you have insulted the poor…
James 2:2-6
One
Christ was re-created on the cross from
divine to demonic.
E.W. Kenyon : "Jesus was conceived without sin. His body was
not mortal. His body did not become mortal until the Father
laid our sin nature upon Him when He hung on the cross. The
moment that He became sin, His body became mortal, only
then could He die. When this happened. spiritual death, the
nature of Satan, took possession of His Spirit....He was to

.Jesus knew that the moment had come, and He was to he
made Sin. He must partake of that dread nature of the
Adversary. His body would become mortal. Satan would
become His master. . . . He [Jesus] had been lifted up as a
serpent. Serpent is Satan. Jesus knew He was going to be
lifted up, united with the Adversary." (What Happened from
the Cross to the Throne [Lynnwood, WA: Kenyon's Gospel
Publishing Society, 1969], 20, 33, 44-45.)
· Benny Hinn claimed that the Holy Ghost personally told him: "Ladies
and gentlemen, the serpent is a symbol of Satan. Jesus Christ knew the
only way He would stop Satan is by becoming one in nature with him.
You say, ‘What did you say? What blasphemy is this?’ No, you hear this!
He did not take my sin; He became my sin. Sin is the nature of hell. Sin
is what made Satan…It was sin that made Satan. Jesus said, "I’ll be sin!
I’ll go to the lowest place! I’ll go to the origin of it! I won’t just take part
in it, I’ll be the totality of it!" When Jesus became sin, sir, He took it
from A to Z and said, "No more!" Think about this: He became flesh, that
flesh might become like Him. He became death, so dying man can live.
He became sin, so sinners can be righteous in Him. He became one with
the nature of Satan, so all those who had the nature of Satan can partake
of the nature of God." (Benny Hinn, Benny Hinn program on TBN
(December 15, 1990).
· Kenneth Hagin also claims that Jesus Christ took on the nature of
Satan, "[s]piritual death means something more than separation from
God. Spiritual death also means having Satan’s nature…Jesus tasted
death—spiritual death—for every man." (Kenneth E. Hagin, The Name
of Jesus (Tulsa, OK: Kenneth Hagin Ministries, 1981), 31.
· Copeland says that Jesus became a sign of Satan when He was hanging
on the cross: "The righteousness of God was made to be sin. He accepted
the sin nature of Satan in His own spirit. And at the moment that He did
so, He cried, "My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken Me?" You don’t
know what happened at the cross. Why do you think Moses, upon
instruction of God, raised the serpent upon that pole instead of a lamb?
That used to bug me. I said, "Why in the world would you want to put a
snake up there—the sign of Satan? Why didn’t you put a lamb on that
pole?" And the Lord said, "Because it was a sign of Satan that was
hanging on the cross." He said, "I accepted, in My own spirit, spiritual
death; and the light was turned off." (Kenneth Copeland, What Happened
from the Cross to the Throne (Fort Worth, TX: Kenneth Copeland
Ministries, 1990), audiotape #02-0017, side 2.
Your redemption was not
secured on the cross, but in hell. In fact, many Faith
teachers claim that Christ's torture by all the demons of
hell was a "ransom" God paid to Satan so that He could
get back into a universe from which He had been
banished.
· According to Frederick Price: "Do you think that the punishment for
our sin was to die on a cross? If that were the case, the two thieves could
have paid your price. No, the punishment was to go into hell itself and to
serve time in hell separated from God…Satan and all the demons of hell
thought that they had Him bound and they threw a net over Jesus and
dragged Him down to the very pit of hell itself to serve our sentence."
(Frederick K.C. Price, Ever Increasing Faith Messanger (June 1980), 7.
· Kenneth Hagin’s version: "He [Jesus] tasted spiritual death for every
man. And His spirit and inner man went to hell in my place. Can’t you
see that? Physical death wouldn’t remove your sins. He’s tasted death for
every man. He’s talking about tasting spiritual death." (Kenneth E.
Hagin, How Jesus Obtained His Name (Tulsa, OK: Kenneth Hagin
Ministries, n.d.), tape #44H01, side 1.
Redemption in hell. In the words of one Faith teacher, "Satan conquered
Jesus upon the Cross." Proponents of Faith theology say that Jesus
endured three days and nights of unimaginable abuse at the hands of
Satan and his hordes of demons in hell. This was God’s payment to Satan
so that He could get back into a universe from which He had been
banished.
Paul Billheimer "Because He was "made sin," impregnated with sin, and
became the very essence of sin, on the cross He was banished from
God’s presence as a loathsome thing. He and sin were made
synonymous…[I]t was not sufficient for Christ to offer up only His
physical life on the cross. His pure human spirit had not "descend" into
hell…His spirit must not only descend into hell, but into the lowest
hell…The Father turned Him over, not only to the agony and death of
Calvary, but to the satanic torturers of His pure spirit as part of the just
dessert of the sin of all the race. As long as Christ was "the essence of
sin" he was at Satan’s mercy in that place of torment…While Christ
identified with sin, Satan and the hosts of hell ruled over Him as over
any lost sinner. During that seemingly endless age in the nether abyss of
death, Satan did with Him as he would, and all hell was "in carnival."

Washington, PA: Christian Literature Crusade, 1988 [orig. 1975]), 83-84.

(August 20, 1987).
Kenneth Copeland
"When Jesus cried, 'It is finished!' He was not
speaking of the plan of redemption. There were still
three days and nights to go through before He went to
the throne…Jesus' death on the cross was only the
beginning of the complete work of redemption. (Jesus - Our
Lord of Glory, Believer's Voice of Victory Magazine 10, 4; April
1982, p. 3)
Kenneth Copeland : "He [Jesus] is suffering all that
there is to suffer. There is no suffering left apart from
Him. His emaciated, poured out, little, wormy spirit is
down in the bottom of that thing [hell]. And the Devil
thinks he's got Him destroyed." ("Believer's Voice of
Victory" program [21 April 1991]. This message
was originally delivered at the Full Gospel
Motorcycle Rally Association 1990 Rally at Eagle
Mountain Lake, Texas.)
Kenneth Copeland
"The righteousness of God was made to be sin. He accepted the
sin nature of Satan in His own spirit. And at the moment that He
did so, He cried, 'My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken Me?'
You don't know what happened at the cross. Why do you think
Moses, upon instruction of God, raised the serpent upon that pole
instead of a lamb? That used to bug me. I said, "Why in the world
would you want to put a snake up there-the sign of Satan? Why
didn't you put a lamb on the pole?' And the Lord said, 'Because it
was a sign of Satan that was hanging on the cross.' He said, 'I
accepted, in My own spirit, spiritual death; and the light was
turned off.'" (Christianity in Crisis, Hank Hanegraaff, Harvest
House, Oregon, pp. 157-158).
Anybody could do what Jesus did on the Cross?
Jesus had to go through that same spiritual death in order to pay
the price. It wasn't the physical death on the cross that paid
the price for sin. Because if it had of been any prophet of God
that had died for the last couple of thousand of years before that
could have paid that price. It wasn't physical death. Anybody
could do that." ("What Satan saw on the day of Pentecost" tape
#02-0022)
Kenneth Copeland : "Satan didn't realize He [Jesus] is
in there [hell] illegally. . . . This man had not sinned. This
man has not fallen out of the covenant of God, and He
had the promise of God for deliverance. And Satan fell
into the trap. He took Him into hell illegally. He carried
Him in there [when] He did not sin." ("What Happened
from the Cross to the Throne" [Fort Worth, TX:
Kenneth Copeland Ministries, 1990], audiotape
#02-0017, side 2.)
Kenneth Copeland : "I can't understand Christians that
refuse to believe that Jesus went to hell. I want to tell
you something if he didn't go, you're going to have to."
(The Christian Channel Europe "Believer's Voice of
Victory" [May 1998)
Do you think that the punishment for our sin was to
die on a cross? If that were the case, the two
thieves could have paid your price. No, the
punishment was to go into hell itself and to
serve time in hell separated from God…Satan
and all the demons of hell thought that they had
Him bound and they threw a net over Jesus and
they dragged Him down to the very pit of hell itself to serve
our sentence. (Ever Increasing Faith Messenger, June 1980.)
Paul E. Billheimer : "The Father turned Him over, not

Charles Capps : " If there's any part of hell Jesus
did not suffer, you'll have to suffer it. But, thank
God, Jesus suffered it all, for you! In the place of the
wicked dead, all the demons of hell and Satan
rejoiced over the prize. The corridors of hell were
filled with joy. 'We've done it! We've captured the
Son of God! We'll no longer be in the pit of the
damned! The earth and all that is therein is ours!
Forever it will be ours!' Rejoicing in hell had never
been so great as it was that day. But it was shortlived." (Authority in Three Worlds, 143,

Charles Capps : "When Jesus was in the pit of
hell. in that terrible torment, no doubt the Devil
and his emissaries gathered around to see the
annihilation of God's Son. But in the corridors of
hell, there came a great voice from heaven: 'Turn
Him Loose! He's there illegally!' And all of hell
became paralyzed." (Authority in Three Worlds,
143, emphasis in original.)
Jesus Paid the Price For Our Sins In Hell and Was Born-Again
During that time He entered hell, where you and I deserved to go (legally) because of
our sin. He paid the price there... no plan was too extreme... Jesus paid on the cross and
in hell (p. 35 emphasis in original.)
God rose up from His throne and said to demon powers tormenting the sinless Son of
God, 'Let Him go.' Then the resurrection power of Almighty God went through hell and
filled Jesus... He was resurrected from the dead - the first born-again man (p. 36
emphasis in original). [The Most Important Decision You Will Ever Make Booklet, 1991
edition]
There is no hope of anyone going to heaven unless they believe this truth I am
presenting. You cannot go to heaven unless you believe with all your heart that Jesus
took your place in hell (p. 37).. [The Most Important Decision You Will Ever Make

Essek William Kenyon's life and ministry were enormously impacted by such cults
as Science of Mind, the Unity School of Christianity, Christian Science, and New
Thought metaphysics. (E. W. Kenyon, The Father and His Family, 17th ed.
(Lynnwood, WA: Kenyon's Gospel Publishing Society, 1964), 100; cf. Kenneth E.
Hagin, "The Incarnation," The Word of Faith, December 1980, 14)
Many of the phrases popularized by present-day prosperity preachers, such as
"What I confess, I possess," were originally coined by Kenyon. Kenneth Hagin ...
plagiarized much of Kenyon's work, including the statement, "Every man who has
been 'born again' is an Incarnation, and Christianity is a miracle. The believer is as
much an Incarnation as was Jesus of Nazareth." (E. W. Kenyon, The Father and His
Family, 17th ed. (Lynnwood, WA: Kenyon's Gospel Publishing Society, 1964), 100;
cf. Kenneth E. Hagin, "The Incarnation," The Word of Faith, December 1980, 14)
"If Jesus' physical death could pay the penalty for Sin as some contend, then
why is it necessary that a Christian die? If a Christian dies physically, does he
not pay the penalty of his own sin? If physical death is the penalty for sin, then
why do not the whole human race pay their own penalty, and save themselves,
for all die? But we hold that the physical death of Jesus did not touch the sin
issue at all." (Daniel R. McConnell, A Different Gospel (Peabody, MA:
Hendrickson Publishers, 1988), 23, 28 note 23)
Jesus Was Born Again in Hell
Kenneth Copeland : "That Word of the living God went
down into that pit of destruction and charged the spirit of
Jesus with resurrection power! Suddenly His twisted,
death-wracked spirit began to fill out and come back to
life. He began to look like something the devil had never
seen before." ("The Price of it All," Believer's Voice
of Victory 19, 9 [September 1991]:4.)
Kenneth Copeland : "He [Jesus] was literally being
reborn before the devil's very eyes. He began to flex His
spiritual muscles. . . .Jesus was born again--the firstborn
from the dead the Word calls Him--and He whipped the
devil in his own backyard. He took everything he had
away from him. He took his keys and his authority away
from him." (Ibid., 4-6.)
"I think they're damned and on their way to hell; and I don't think there's
any redemption for them." (Praise-a-thon, April 2, 1991.)
God, we proclaim death to anything or anyone that will
lift a hand against this network and this ministry that
belongs to You, God. It is Your work, it is Your idea, it
is Your property, it is Your airwaves, it is Your world,
and we proclaim death to anything that would stand in
the way of God's great voice of proclamation to the
whole world. In the Name of Jesus, and all the people
said Amen!
"To hell with you! Get out of my life! Get out of the way!…I say get
out of God's way! Quit blocking God's bridges or God's going to
shoot you if I don't…I don't even want to even talk to you or hear
you! If you want to argue doctrine, if you want to straighten out
somebody over here, if you want to criticize Ken Copeland for his
preaching on faith, or Dad Hagin. Get out of my life! I don't even
want to talk to you or hear you. I don't want to see your ugly face!
Get out of my face in Jesus' name." (Paul Crouch, "Praise-a-thon"
broadcast on TBN, recorded 4/2/91)
I don't want to see your ugly face!" (Praise-a-thon, April 2, 1991.)
"I was shocked when I found out who the biggest failure in the
Bible actually is…The biggest one in the whole Bible is God…I
mean, He lost His top-ranking, most anointed angel; the first man
He ever created; the first woman He ever created; the whole earth
and all the fullness therein; a third of the angels, at least - that's a
big loss, man….Now, the reason you don't think of God as a
failure is He never said He's a failure. And you're not a failure
till you say you're one." (Praise-a-thon on Praise The Lord, April
1988)
"You don't have a god in you, you are one." (The Force of Love audiotape,
1987)
"Now Peter said by exceeding great and precious promises you become
partakers of the divine class. All right, are we gods? We are a class of gods!"
(Praise The Lord TV Show, Feb. 5, 1986)
"God's on the outside looking in. He doesn't have any legal entrée into the
earth. The thing don't belong to Him. You see how sassy the Devil was in the
presence of God in the book of Job? God said, 'Where have you been?' Wasn't
any of God's business. He [Satan] didn't even have to answer if he didn't
want to…God didn't argue with him a bit! You see, this is the position that
God's been in…Might say, 'Well, if God's running things He's doing a lousy
job of it.' He hadn't been running 'em, except when He's just got, you know, a
little bit of a chance. (Image of God in You III audiotape #01-1403, side 1.)
"Faith is a power force. It is a tangible force. It is a
conductive force." (The Force of Faith, p. 10.)
"When Jesus cried, 'It is finished!' He was not speaking of the
plan of redemption. There were still three days and nights to go
through before He went to the throne…Jesus' death on the
cross was only the beginning of the complete work of
redemption. (Jesus - Our Lord of Glory, Believer's Voice of
Victory Magazine 10, 4; April 1982, p. 3)
"The Spirit of God spoke to me and He said,
'Son, realize this. Now follow me in this and don't let your tradition trip you
up.' He said, 'Think this way - a twice-born man whipped Satan in his own
domain.'
And I threw my Bible down…like that. I said, 'What?'
He said, 'A born-again man defeated Satan, the firstborn of many
brethren defeated him.' He said, 'You are the very image, the very
copy of that one.'
I said, 'Goodness, gracious sakes alive!' And I began to see what had gone
on in there, and I said, 'Well now you don't mean, you couldn't dare
mean, that I could have done the same thing?'
He said, 'Oh yeah, if you'd had the knowledge of the Word of God that
He did, you could have done the same thing, 'cause you're a reborn
man too.'"
Substitution and Identification, tape #00-0202, side 2.
He [God] doesn't even draw a distinction between Himself and
us…You know what else that's settled, then, tonight? This hue and
cry and controversy that has been spawned by the Devil to try and
bring dissension within the body of Christ that we are gods. I am a
little god!…I have His name. I'm one with Him. I'm in covenant
relation. I am a little god! Critics, be gone! (Praise The Lord,
July 7, 1986)
I am a "little messiah" walking on earth. (Praise-a-thon, Praise
The Lord, Nov. 6, 1990)
Years ago they used to preach "O we are going to walk on
streets of good." I would say, "I don't need the gold up there.
I've got to have it down here. (Praise-a-thon, April 2, 1991.)
Adam was a super being when God created him. I don't know
whether people know this, but he was the first Superman that
really ever lived. First of all, the Scriptures declare clearly that he
had dominion over the fowls of the air, the fish of the sea - which
means he used to fly. Of course, how can he have dominion
over the birds and not be able to do what they do? The word
"dominion" in the Hebrew clearly declares that if you have
dominion over a subject, that you do everything that subject does.
In other words, that subject, if it does something you cannot do,
you don't have dominion over it. I'll prove it further. Adam not
only flew, he flew to space. He was - with one thought he
would be on the moon. (Praise The Lord, December 26, 1991.)
Benny Hinn: Man, I feel revelation knowledge already
coming on me here. Life your
hands. Something new is going to happen here today. I felt it
just as I walked down here. Holy Spirit, take over in the name
of Jesus...God the Father, ladies and gentlemen, is a person;
and he is a triune being by himself separate from the Son and
the Holy Ghost. Say, what did you say? Here it, hear it, hear
it. See, God the Father is a person, God the Son is a person,
God the Holy Ghost is a person. But each one of them is a
triune being by Himself. If I can shock you - and maybe I
should - there's nine of them. Huh, what did you say? Let
me explain: God the Father, ladies and gentlemen, is a
person with his own personal spirit, with his own personal
soul, and his own personal spirit body. You say, Huh, I never
heard that. Well, you think you're in this church to hear things
you've heard for the last 50 years? You can't argue with the
Word, can you? It's all in the Word. (Benny Hinn, Praise The
Lord, October 3, 1990)
The whole point is I'm trying to get you to see - to get you out of this
malaise of thinking that Jesus and the disciples were poor and then
relating that to you - thinking that you, as a child of God, have to follow
Jesus. The Bible says that He has left us an example that we should
follow His steps. That's the reason why I drive a Rolls Royce. I'm
following Jesus' steps. (Ever Increasing Faith on Trinity
Broadcasting Network, December 9, 1990.)
Now this is a shocker! But God has to be given permission to work in
this earth realm on behalf of man…Yes! You are in control! So, if man
has control, who no longer has it? God…When God gave Adam dominion,
that meant God no longer had dominion. So God cannot do anything in this
earth unless we let him. And the way we let Him or give Him permission is
through prayer. (Prayer: Do You Know What Prayer Is…and How to Pray?
The Word Study Bible, 1178.)
…how can you glorify God in your body, when it doesn't
function right? How can you glorify God? How can He get glory
when your body doesn't even work?…What makes you think the
Holy Ghost wants to live inside a body where He can't see out
through the windows and He can't hear with the ears? What
makes you think the Holy Spirit wants to live inside of a physical
body where the limbs and the organs and the cells do not function
right?…And what makes you think He wants to live in a temple
where He can't see out of the eyes, and He can't walk with the
feet, and He can't move with the hand?…The only eyes that He
has that are in the earth realm are the eyes that are in the body. If
He can't see out of them then God's gonna be limited… (Is God
Glorified Through Sickness? audiotape #FP605.)
