wanted to bring an end to the war with

Britain, and Italy. Adolf

• They came together
to discuss what was
going to happen to
the Sudetenland and
Czechoslovakia as a
result of Hitler’s
territorial demands.
What?

These 4 countries came together all wanting
the same thing…peace. But as a result of the
pact, more violence came about from Nazi
Germany.
When?

The pact was signed at the conference on
September 29, 1938.
Where?
 This
all took place in Munich hence the
name, Munich conference.
Why?

The 4 countries met together and created
the Munich conference. At this conference
the issues discussed were placed on a
pact that each of these countries signed.
It was implied on the pact that Germany
was given permission to take over the
Sudetenland and Czechoslovakia.
How?

Hitler was in control and he needed
support. The Munich pact gave him this
support and made it possible for him to
take over the countries that he thought
would be of importance to control.
Importance of the land
• The Sudetenland was of great importance to
Czechoslovakia as most of its border defenses
were situated there and many of their banks
were also located there. But as explained before
Germany gained control, from France and G.B.,
of both of these territories. The pact is also
know as the Munich betrayal because
Czechoslovakia was not invited and their land
was taken.
Significance to the war
 This pact had a great influence on the
war, it was created to bring peace,
but only postponed the war for about
11 months.
