STUDENTS WELFARE
PLACEMENT SERVICE
INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES
The Institute of Agricultural Sciences has an. exemplary record of placement through campus interviews
during last many years with a large number of private and public sector companies, banks, MNCs and NGOs
visiting the campus and recruiting a large number of students. Various organizations and Banks organized campus
interviews for the graduates, post graduates and Ph.Ds and recruited a total of 91 students during this period, viz. (i)
Bank of Baroda. (ii) Bank of India. (iii)Union Bank of India. (iv) RajivGandhi Mahila Vikash Pariyojana. (v)
Pradan, (vi) Basix, (vii) Monsanto, (viii) Triveni Engineering, (ix) Elgon, Kenya, (x) DCM Sri ram .Consolidated
Ltd., (xi) Mahyco, (xii) IFFCQ, and (xiii) Utkarsh. Looking at the importance of practical training in U.G. teaching
of agriculture, 172 summer trainings were arranged for interested students in reputed organizations like, Indian
Institute on Mushroom, Solan; Litchi Research Institute, Muzaffarpur; Central Tasar Research & Training Institute,
Ranchi; Saras Dairy, Kota; Saras Dairy, Jaipur; Vishal Patliputra Dughda Utpadak Sahkari Sangh Limited, Patna;
Indian Institute of Natural Resins & Gums, Ranchi; Makhana Research Institute, Darbhanga, etc.
INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
The Training and Placement Cell (TPO) of the Institute started functioning in 1977-78. Since its inception, the Cell
is coordinating placement of final year students in various industries and research organizations and making
arrangements for the summer internship of B. Tech./ B.Pharm./lDDIIMD students every year as a part of their
curriculum. Till date more than 13,250 B.Tech./M.Tech. and B.Pharm/M.Pharm. students have been placed
through this cell with lucrative pay packages in leading industries of the country and abroad. Several prestigious
public and private companies have visited the institute and their number has greatly increased from mere 16 in
1977 to 94 in 2010-11. The main emphasis of this cell has been to impart industrial training and to place students in
core sector industries as per their competence. However, consultancy organizations from financial sectors and
supply chain management have also been major recruiters of our students. For the current academic session the
recruitment process started on August 17, 2010. A large number of companies such as Microsoft, Adobe, Goldman
Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Oracle, Netapp, oseo, Mentor Graphics, DE Shaw, n Vidia, Samsung, Atrenta, LG,
Hindustan Unilever, IOCL, BPCL, Tata Motora, Maruti, Ashok Leyland, L&T, DRDO, Reliance Energy, Coal
India, BEML, ACC, NMDC, SAIL, BHEl, NTPC, MECON, Jindal Stainless, Visa Steel, TClL, HZL, NOMURA,
ONGC-OPAL, Surya Roshni etc., which have been regular visitors to the Institute, continued to show their faith in
the students' performance and made large number of recruitments. There have been several first time visitors to the
institute which include companies like RIO TINTO, Era Group, Sant Gobian, VBC Group, Power Grid
Corporation, Kazstroy, GE, Yahoo, Gtrix, BOC etc. This year a total of 508 job offers were received among 417
B.Tech and B.Phann Part IV students, 102 job offers for 83 outgoing students of IDD and 28 job offers for 26
outgoing students IMD programmes. A total of 140 job offers have been given to the post graduate students as
well. An encouraging observation has been on the part of pay package offered by core companies that have come at
par with IT industries. The highest pay package that is offered during this year is Rs.16.10 lakhs per annum which
is from a core sector industry. At the Institute, students are carefully groomed according to the ever-changing needs
of the industry. Students are also given industrial exposure through frequent industrial visits. Undergraduate
students undergo an eight-week long training in their summer vacations in reputed industries/institutions/
organizations (in India as well as abroad), as part of their curriculum requirements. The 100/ IMD and M.Tech.
students are being offered six to twelve month projects to be executed at the industrial premises with supervision
from the Institute.
The in-plant practical training to the undergraduate students during summer vacations has been very helpful in
including professional culture and exposing them to t1\e working environment of industries. Such internship

programmes provide an opportunity to the faculty of institute as well to interact effectively with industries in R&D
and consultancy assignments. The cell interacts on an average with around 260 industries to impart practical
training to the B.Tech./B.Phann./ IDD/lMD students for 6-8 weeks. The summer training offers are also being
received from foreign research organizations.
A number of Guest Lectures and other activities exhibiting close tie-ups of industries such as TCS, Global Energy,
Cognizant. etc. have been arranged during the current academic session. These Guest Lectures are mainly aimed
at exposing students tocorporate culture, soft skill requirements of the industries and also academic needs at on job
requirements and expectations from our students.
The Institute has been providing accommodation for students from other institutions for meeting their academic
needs and as many as 152 students were permitted to work in the laboratories as summer interns.
FACULTY OF SCIENCE
A sizeable number of students are sent to various public sector, private companies and ~so reputed research
laboratories for summer training. Such summer training provides ample opportunities for the students to have an
exposure of working in various laboratories, institutions, companies etc. The Training and Placement Cell of the
Faculty as well as the different assist the students for their placement.
Campus placement of students in the academic session 2010-11 (Botany, Chemistry, Physics, Geology,
Geophysics, Mathematics, Statistics and Geography) in different organizations is 126. Companies/organizations
that recruited the students are Reeo Tinto (Australia), CTS (Congnigent Technical Solution), HCL (BPO), Aakash
Coaching Institute, Mont Group, Wipro Technologies, ONGC (Geophysicist), ONGC (Geologist), TCS, Map My
India Ltd. Delhi, Eco Water Soultions and IDBI Bank Ltd.
FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES
The students of Faculty of Management Studies have again proved their worth. All the students have been recruited
by various esteemed organizations across India and abroad reinforcing the strong academic culture of the Faculty.
Coordinated efforts of the Faculty were reflected in the Campus placements of the management graduates of the
faculty. The outreach of the faculty at the corporate world expanded. The placement session 2011 witnessed the
participation of regular recruiters aptly complemented by a plethora of new entrants. FMS is proud to add Pioneer
financial institution of India Reserve Bank of India in its list of campus recruiters this year. Moreover four of our
students managed to bag international offers from research & consulting firm iCRM as well.
As many as 30 top recruiters visited FM5-BHU in the session 2010..2011 including corporate giants like Infosys,
Coal India, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, Pantaloon, Visa Steel, FINO and Ansal API. Last year we were able to
maintain an average salary of 6.46 lakhs. This year the average pay, bagged by our students is 7 lakhs. The Faculty
which recorded a campus placement of 90 percent last year where 90 students got 70 job offers has registered a
significant jump in the current academic session and the number of offers went up to 120 for 102 students.
The profiles offered varied in their diversity, encompassing Corporate Finance, Equity Research, Investment
Banking, Marketing, Sales and Distribution, Supply O1ain Management, Business Consulting, IT consulting,
Agri-Business, Industrial Relations and Corporate HR. Most importantly, the faculty also incorporated the students
from various other faculties in the university viz. MPMIR, M.Sc. Agri & Master of Financial Management for
arranging campus placements. Facility for hosting campus placement for MNNIT and other institutions outside
BHU was also extended. Students council was helped to conduct a pool campus activity for entire university
students where 25 students got offers and similar activities are planned for future also. Bulk Placements for mM
Daksh was organized for the entire University, jointly with the University Placement Coordination Cell and
Students Council. The outstanding achievements in Campus placements are in line with the top rating of the
Faculty as reflected in reputed B-School surveys conducting during 2010.
