OPENING CREDITS
Voiceover:
JOINING the CHORUS, or JTC, the performing arts initiative of the Department of
Education and Training was established in 1995 to promote and support the
performing arts in Victorian Government schools.
It has achieved this through the vehicle of the State School Spectacular and the
JOINING the CHORUS stage band, choir and dance ensembles. Since its inception,
JOINING the CHORUS has provided over twelve thousand Victorian Government
primary and secondary students with unforgettable performance opportunities and
showcased the depth of their talent and energy before a combined audience of over
one-hundred thousand people.
Through its extensive state wide auditioning process JOINING the CHORUS has
unearthed the wealth of vocal talent and provided them with their first steps on the
road to becoming professional performers.
Thousands of dancers, a massed choir of 2000 voices, over 3000 costumes and a
hundred piece orchestra make JOINING the CHORUS events truly spectacular.
In 2005 the pacific school games came to Melbourne and JOINING the CHORUS
produced the opening and closing ceremonies as well as the village entertainment
program for the week of the games. In the opening ceremony JTC transformed
Optus Oval into a sea of colour, dance and music in celebration of the great Pacific
Ocean.
JOINING the CHORUS with its proven history of major events production strong
link’s to government schools and the talents of the JOINING the CHORUS
performance ensembles continues to work closely with some of Melbourne’s
biggest event organisers to provide quality performance opportunities to Victorian
government school students.
Dance! Music! Voice! Performance! Excellence! Participation!
The hallmarks of JOINING the CHORUS through its last ten years and into the
future.
