FBLA: Future Business Leaders of America is our student organization for the business division of Career and
Technical Education. Any student enrolled in a business course is eligible to place membership with FBLA.
Membership in this organization is encouraged but entirely optional. The advantages and opportunities that members
of FBLA have will be presented during the first few weeks of school. In addition to valuable leadership and community
service experience that can be gained, members are eligible to compete on regional, state, and national levels. Dues are
$20 (not covered by fee waiver).
Make-up work: Due to the hands-on nature of the course, I highly recommend that absences from this class are
minimal. However, I do understand that occasionally circumstances arise that can not be prevented. It is the student’s
responsibility to determine what work was missed during the absence and make it up within 3 days. Make-up work
turned in within 3 days of an excused absence will receive 100% of the grade earned; make-up work returned within 3
days of an unexcused absence will receive 70% of the grade earned. I will maintain a student calendar & assignment
book at the student station in my room. All work assigned will be logged in that book. Any handouts given during the
current or previous week will also be located in the make-up box on the student station. If a student has an extended
excused absence, I am more than happy to accommodate with extended make-up time upon request.
Bathroom passes: Students are given 5 minutes between each class period during which they should use the restroom if
necessary. However, I do understand that occasionally an emergency situation occurs during class time. Each student
will be granted up to 2 emergency trips per 9 weeks. I will keep a log and students will sign out in this situation. If a
student chooses to not use either of their emergency trips, they will be eligible to drop their lowest Daily Assignment
grade. Students with a doctor’s note on file requesting frequent bathroom privileges due to a medical condition will be
granted permission to go as necessary.
