Freedom from the Cares of the World Last week we talked about what God has said and done in Jesus to restore the fellowship He always desired to have with us. This week we want to bring out an aspect of the fellowship we were created for with our heavenly Father so we can find our lives being born from the seat of Sons and Daughters. Explain don't want to apply this as a work or formula Because of the ease with which something can turn into a work, or a formula. Please understand that what I am talking about today is not some work or formula for you to do. It is not something where you want to say to yourself if I do this then I will get that. Otherwise, it will take the heart and relational aspect out of what I am describing and it will become some mindless formula we are trying to work. Mark 4:18-19 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. The part we want to look at is where Jesus says the cares of this world can act as a stumbling block to the Word of truth God declared in Jesus being fruitful in our lives. I.e giving us freedom, peace, contentment, joy, etc. When Jesus talks about the different conditions of the heart he is not just talking about different people. But, He is also talking about various things that can occur in our hearts to try and negate the impact of the Word made flesh in our lives. Explain cares not just about pursuit of wealth, accolades to prove godliness have life When Jesus says the cares of the world can make the word unfruitful in our lives He is not just referring to the pursuit of material wealth, and status and accolades as a way to prove our godliness, and have life. The greek word for cares means care, anxiety. It speaks of the idea of distraction that can come through a cause of concern. It speaks of the idea of a person being distracted because of something they are concerned about. Whether it be a person, or situation they are concerned about to the degree they have a troubled or anxious state of mind, and they are meditating on it. Jesus is talking about something that can distract us from meditating on Him as our life, and what God has said and done in Him. And cause our imaginations to be filled with the cares of the world. Explain what a heart filled with the cares of the world is A heart filled with the cares of the world is a conscience that is filled with worries, concerns, cares, etc. And it is not just that a worry, or burden, or concern comes to me but that I begin to meditate on it, and make judgments about it. Thinking about it; trying to determine what is going on and figuring out how to fix it or bring forth life in the situation, circumstance, or relationship I am concerned with. Explain what some of the cares could be It could be we are concerned about our loved ones. It could be we are concerned with our relationships. It could be we are concerned with the fruit we see in our lives. It could be we are concerned with some situation, or circumstance in our lives. It could be we are concerned with what people think of us. We could be concerned that the way we are is not good. It is any care that comes to our conscience through some circumstance, or situation that happens in our life, or some issue in our relationships and we get to meditating on it, and figuring the how's, the why's, the when's, the where's. All the time thinking this is the path to solving the problem and bringing forth life in our situations and our relationships. It's like carrying the weight of providing life for ourselves through our much figuring about our cares. It's like we think if we meditate on it enough we can figure out what the problem is; what can fix the problem and then we can implement our plan of action to bring forth life in the situation we are concerned with. But, this is the carnal mind at work and can never bring forth life in our circumstances and relationships. It can only always bring forth more death. Explain one of biggest cares that can come is through fruit we see in lives One of the biggest cares that can come to us is in regards to the fruit we see in our lives, and whether or not we think we see grace working in our lives. And then the strength of Jesus in our lives can be choked out by our much figuring about the fruit in our life, and why the fruit is in our life. And why dont we see more fruit in our life. And how can we get this fruit to manifest in our life, and what does it mean that I see/or don't see this fruit in my life. Listen if you find a concern that comes to your conscience about the fruit you see in your life, or the lack of fruit you see in your life. The answer is not found in your much figuring. Your answer is found in casting your care about the fruit in your life onto your heavenly Father, and keeping your eyes on Jesus and letting the meditation of your heart be what God has said and done in Him. Example using me and preaching If I just look at myself and preaching. You preach the gospel because you see how passionate God is for people, and you have such a passion for people to experience the life of their design. That you can easily find you have taken the burden of people experiencing life onto yourself. Where I have a desire for them to experience life, but the moment my imagination becomes captivated with figuring about how I can help them to experience life the cares of the world has come in. I am now carrying the burden, God's burden, and I am no more functioning from the place of Son in the Godhead but I am trying to function from the place of Father. And in that I am trying to figure out how I can bring forth life in them and their situation I have taken on a carnal mindset and the peace, joy, longsuffering, meekness, love, etc will be choked out. I have learned when I feel this desire for someone to have life it is not for me to now work it out through my much figuring. I fellowship with the Father about my desire and concern for people and cast my concern about it onto Him, and then I only say what I hear the Father saying. And I no longer worry about the rest. Example of desiring physical healing in our bodies can become a care and choke out the word. We can even become so focused on getting a physical healing in our body that it can choke out the word from being fruitful. Where if we don't see a manifestation of healing in our bodies our imagination begins to meditate on why not. What is the problem? What does it mean that I don't see a manifestation of healing in my body? What is hindering me from seeing the manifestation of healing in my body? What can I do to fix it? What can I do to get a physical healing to manifest in my body? This is the worst thing that can happen because now your heart is making judgments about these things, and out of the judgments we make in our hearts flow the issues of our lives. When this happens the meditation of our hearts is no more filled with Christ & Him crucified, but it is filled with the cares of this world. Example of traumatic events in life Example of relationship with Beckie Example of me if I think there is anything wrong in my relationship with Beckie. And then I begin to meditate on what I think is wrong in our relationship. And then through my much figuring I determine what is the cause of the problem & what we need to do to fix it and bring forth life in our relationship. Normally when this happens not only do we take the burden onto ourselves but we will oftentimes then put the burden on our spouses, etc... Explain the design of man such that we were created to live from place of innocence The design of man is such that we were created to live from a place of innocence where we could just live and enjoy life free of any cares, or anxieties, worries, or concerns. Where we could just live life care free without always figuring what is the problem, and how can we fix it; where we could live without meditating on our cares in our hearts and minds. We were never created to carry the burden of problems, concerns, or issues that arise in life. The design of man was never with the intent that their conscience could be filled with problem identifying & then problem solving. Innocence does not only speak of being without blame, or an inability to believe there is something wrong with me. But, it also speaks of freedom from worries, cares, burdens, anxiety. So innocence also speaks speaks of a conscience that is free from cares or anxieties. Example of infant to explain the original intent behind the design of man If we look at an infant or a young child we can see their mind is not consumed with the day to day cares of the world. They are just living in the moment enjoying life. Their conscience is not consumed with how they will eat tomorrow, or figuring if there are problems in their relationships with their parents, or the other toddlers they play with and how they can fix them. Infants have very short memories when it comes to things that can upset them. Even when we see a child get upset they do not get to figuring what the problem is or why they are upset they just cry. And even if they cry we can see if an infant becomes upset because they want a toy another infant has, how easy it can be for them to be distracted and never think of that toy again in all of a couple of seconds. They are functioning in a place of innocence where their conscience is not corrupted by the cares of this world. In the same way we see the innocence of a child, and how free they are because their conscience has not been filled with the cares of the world this is the foundation man was created to experience life from! Explain design of Son & Father We were created to function from the place of Son in the Godhead. The design of the Son is not one in which the Son carries their own burdens; their own worries; their own cares. The design of the Son is not one in which the Son is created to meditate on the issues in their life & figure what the problem is and how to fix it. The design of the Son is such that instead of meditating on the cares that come to Him, He talks to the Father about them. The design of the Father is such that the Father desires to carry the burdens; the cares for the Son. The design of the Father is such that He is the one who carries the burden of bringing forth life in all the Son's circumstances and relationships. And it is not grievous or difficult for Him to do this. The Father is such that He desires to carry the burdens for the Son. He desires to carry the cares and worries of the Son. He desires to carry the burden of bringing forth life in the Son. Explain innocence can be stolen; eyes distracted from Christ as our life if we try to function outside of our design and carry the burden of the Father What can happen if we try to function outside of our design where we try to carry the burden of the Father. Where we get to meditating on our issues; we try to figure out why something is wrong, and what we can do to now bring life to that circumstance or relationship is that our innocence can be stolen and our eyes can be distracted from Christ as our life. And our eyes will be on our own figuring and ability to be our life in all our circumstances and relationships. And this can only serve to subvert our souls, and cause us to feel anxiety, and stress. In functioning outside of our design; in trying to live in a way that is contrary to our design it can subvert our souls to such a degree with the cares of bringing forth life through our much figuring and our ability that it serves to fill our bodies and minds with anxiety, stress, etc.... Example of fisher price chair as something functioning outside of its design Its like those little plastic fisher price chairs that are made for 2 yr olds to sit in and play house. The design of that chair was never intended for an adult. It was never intended to be able to support the weight of an adult. In the day that chair tries to function outside of its design by carrying the weight of an adult the design of that chair will buckle under the weight of that adult. In the same way the design of man was never that they would carry the weight of figuring out what the problem is, why there is a problem, what the problem means, and what they can do to try and bring forth life in their circumstances and problems in their relationships. We were never created to have our imaginations filled with negative issues. In the day that satan can deceive man into trying to function outside of their design by carrying the weight of the Father, or the burden of figuring out why there is a problem and what they can do to fix the problem man can be crushed under the weight of that burden. Explain how we cast care. How exactly do we cast our cares upon the Lord Now what do we do? Because although we were not created to carry cares, burdens, worries, anxieties. Although we are not of this world, we are in this world and different cares can come to us in the way of what we can encounter in this world that can try to steal our innocence by filling our imaginations with the cares, worries, burdens that come to us. Phillipians 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Psa 55:22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. So the cares seek to get our minds off of Christ as our life, and seek to get our minds on our issues, and much figuring as our source of life. The casting of our cares sheds the peace of God abroad in our hearts & keeps the meditation of our hearts & minds in Christ. Explain what idea of casting our cares speaks of To cast, or the idea of casting our cares speaks of shedding our cares. It speaks of our conscience being washed clean from our cares. It speaks of our innocence being restored. It speaks of the meditation of our hearts being free from figuring what the problem is; why there is the problem; what the problem means, and what we can do to bring forth life in the problem. Explain how shed our cares, and result of shedding cares The way we shed our cares, or the thing that can wash our conscience clean from our cares, and restore our innocence is to take our cares to our heavenly Father. The way our cares can be cast away from us is for us to cry out to our Father in heaven about the cares that try to come to us and steal our innocence. And in that we cry out to Him, or talk to Him about our cares; our worries; our concerns they are shed from us. And the feeling of peace; the feeling of security; the feeling of safety can be shed abroad in our hearts. And the meditation of our hearts will be Jesus instead of our cares. This isn't only that I talk to Him about what I want, but I talk to Him about what I feel, and I talk to Him about the truth Use example of Jesus to explain prayer & supplication. Explain how do we cast the care; what does this look like using baby example If I look at a baby and the innocence they function in. Even when they can feel something isn't right, or causing them discomfort. Whether it be a dirty diaper, they are hungry, they are tired. The baby does not sit there trying to figure out what the problem is, or how they can fix the problem. They don't even begin to determine the reason they are uncomfortable is because they are hungry. They don't even find the thought that says if I can just get some food all will be well. They don't even get to the place where they consider what is wrong. The moment they feel the discomfort they just start crying. They are crying out to their mother and father about their discomfort. They are so full of innocence that they leave it up to the mother and the father to figure out what the problem is, and what can make them feel better. In this we see the fellowship we were created for with the Father. And we can see how our cares our cast off us. In crying out to the parents the moment the baby feels that something is wrong, or that something comes to them and tells them they are lacking something they immediately cast that care; they immediately cast the burden of their dilemma onto the parents. This is a picture of the fellowship between the Father and the Son; between the Father and the daughter. The moment I can even feel their is something wrong; the moment anything comes to me to try and tell me I am lacking I do not get to figuring how and why I feel this way, or what it means that I feel this way, and what I can do to fix it. The fellowship I am designed for is such that I will immediately cry out to my heavenly Father without even considering it. Glory to God. This is not a work or a formula we put to work to get some result. This is the life of our design. I do not set out to perform this work and then judge the results I think I am getting. I am simply engaging in the life of my design. I am simply engaging in the fellowship and relationship I was created for with my Father. It is not about the end result. It is about a relationship with my Father. But, there is a result! If you can understand what I am saying! Example of me at race in New Jersey When I was 10 years old I ran in the junior Olympics, and there was an international track meet I ran at in New Jersey. Normally, this would have been no big thing to me. But, in the regional meet 2 weeks prior I had a very traumatic event happen to me emotionally and physically while running in a race. Because of what happened to me at the previous race as the time approached for me to run in this race my heart was filled with fear and anxiety at the thought of running. Or you could say my conscience was filled with the cares of the world. The cares of the world came to me, and filled my conscience with fear and anxiety at the thought of running in these races. The meditation of my heart was about what I had experienced; why I experienced it; what it means that I experienced it. All those things were serving to choke out life from me. Fortunately my dad was there with me, and I talked with Him about what was troubling me. I went to my dad with my concerns; with what was troubling me so He could figure it out and fix it. And in coming to Him with the cares the world was bringing to me it cast my cares onto Him and I was strengthened in my weakness to run the race. The weight of my cares was trying to crush me, but in casting my cares onto my dad my innocence was restored and I was able to run in the races. It's like what it says in Hebrews 4:16 when it says Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. That word boldly speaks of freedom in speaking, unreservedness in speech openly, frankly, i.e without concealment, without ambiguity or circumlocution, free and fearless confidence, cheerful courage, boldness, assurance The word mercy here can speak of God providing salvation from what is ailing us. And grace hear speaks of us being strengthened in the inner man by the strength of God when we are weak, or when we need help in our time of need. So when the cares of the world comes to us trying to steal our innocence by bringing worries, and concerns, and filling our minds with much figuring about the how's; why's; when's; where's of what the problem is, and what we can do to bring life into our situation we come to the throne room with boldness. We come to our heavenly Father with an unconcealed heart; freedom in speaking; unreservedness in speech concerning our cares that we might find salvation for our subverted souls, and our innocence can be restored by the grace of God strengthening us in the inner man through the casting of our cares onto Him example using Jesus on the cross We can even see this dynamic at work in Jesus. When Jesus was hanging on the cross the cares of the world came to him trying to tell him something was wrong; that something was not right. The cares of the world came to him telling him God had forsaken him; telling Him He was not the Son; telling Him the Father is not as He ought to be. Trying to subvert his soul and steal His innocence from Him by getting him to start figuring the hows and the whys. By getting Him to start figuring what it meant this was happening to Him, and what He could do to bring forth life in His situation. We see him casting His cares onto the Father in psalm 22, which is a prophetic psalm about the cross, telling the Father about all the things that were happening to Him, and how He felt as they were happening to Him. We see Jesus talking with the Father about how He never hid his face from Jesus. This is Jesus casting all His cares onto the Father, and in that moment we see the peace of God keeping Jesus' heart and mind in the Father. And that's when He cries out Father into your hands I commit my spirit. Explain not sending you out to perform some formula I am not sending you out to perform a formula and to do a work to have life. I am painting a picture of the fellowship we were created for through the Word made flesh in Jesus, and in you hearing & beholding the picture painted by the Word made flesh this Word can be born in your hearts and you can find you are effortlessly engaging in the life of your design. Explain how the Father brings forth the relationship, and what can bring forth this reaction in us effortlessly 1Pe 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you Jesus did not have to exert effort to fellowship with the Father in this way it happened effortlessly. He didn't have to use His willpower to come to the Father with His cares. This isn't commanding us or telling us to use our self effort to cast our cares. It's telling us what will cause a person to cast their cares onto God effortlessly. Remember casting our cares onto God just means we come to Him with our cares. Paul says what will cause us to come to God with our cares is knowing how much God cares for us. It is in knowing how precious we are to the Father. It is knowing that He is the lover of our souls and He not only desires to bring forth life in our circumstances, but that He is faithful in that which He desires to do. It is in us hearing of the Father's good opinion of us, and the integrity of His intentions to only always be good to us. When I came to my father with my cares at that race it was because my heart was persuaded of His goodness towards me, and that my life was safe in His hands. This brought forth an effortless reaction in me to come to him with my cares. Explain how the Father brings this forth in us through word He has spoken to us in Jesus. And truly our fellowship is with the Son & with the Father. We fellowship with Jesus by hearing the word God has spoken to us in Him, and this creates a persuasion in our hearts about the Father & what He thinks of us, and it brings us to Him and immerses us into the fellowship I am describing. Explain doesn't mean nothing will happen Coming to God with our cares doesn't mean nothing will happen, or even that we won't end up doing something in the midst of these situations. It just means because I come to God with my cares my imagination won't be corrupted by the burden of my cares. I wont get to figuring the how's; the why's; the where's and my innocence can't be stolen. And if there is anything to do God will give me the wisdom and bring forth a desire in my heart to do something. And what I do will be born from a place of peace & the wisdom of God instead of a place of worry and the wisdom of man. Let the peace of God rule in our hearts about these things. We cast the burden onto God and anything there is to be done will come effortlessly through our innocence and our union with Him! Explain doesn't mean it is bad to think about things I can be thinking about how to do something, or the way in which I want to do something and there is nothing about that which is contrary to my design. The difference between just thinking about something and it being a care is does the thing you are thinking about trouble you. End prayer-Father we desire to cast our cares upon you, but we need you bring this forth in us. We cast our cares about how we can cast our cares upon. We desire for the meditation of our hearts to be Christ & Him crucified, and we thank you for your Holy Spirit & your faithfulness in bringing forth your life in us. Creating to cast these things onto the Father through fellowshipping with Him. Explain fellowshipping with Him through the Son; by fellowshipping with Jesus as the only voice about your life Explain what these cares can do Connect casting all your cares to coming to the thrown room for strength in your time of need. Coming with any cares that arise in your heart that seek to steal your innocence by consuming your thoughts about how, why, when, where, & what to do. When our imaginations become captivated by these things & begin to twist on them & try to figure them out they can work to deprive us of our innocence & our freedom to just live life enjoying it.. Connect to Hebrews: when my mind is filled with cares is when I am weak. Come into throne to receive grace in your time of need. When your head is filled how to's. Casting care Talk about cares from foundation of stealing our innocence by corrupting our conscience with worry concerning something. If our imagination becomes captivated by a care in our lives it can serve to subvert our souls. It serves to corrupt our innocence with anxiety. Innocence is the lack of carrying cares. It is a conscience absent of cares. We could even say Connect casting all your cares to coming to the thrown room for strength in your time of need. Psa 42:6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar. Prayer as fellowshipping with God, talking to God. Use tree of the knowledge of good & evil as example of carrying cares. As example of mind filled with how to bring forth life in ourselves. A mind consumed with what is the good thing to do, and get. It represents a mind filled with carrying the burden of always trying to figure out how to bring forth life by what I do. Maybe add after explanation of parable of sower sowing the seed. When I say steal our innocence I do not mean that we are no longer innocent before the father. I am saying that our conscience becomes corrupted with the cares of this world & how we can fix them and bring forth life in them. For many people physical healing becomes a care that chokes out the power of the word. Circumstances that happen to us in the world can cause us to take on a mindset of trying to get more, have more.... Not be content with the message of grace & knowing that it is performing a good work in us. Sower says cares of the world can choke out the word. Cares here can also be a mind consumed with trying to figure things out; mind consumed with fruit we see in our lives. This kind of kind is still a carnal mind, and tries to rob us of experiencing the life of innocence we were created for(example of innocence of child-mind not consumed with day to day cares of the world; just living in the moment). Because innocence is the inability to believe I am not as I ought to be. Talk about parable of sower sowing seed & cares of world choking out word(Jesus is the word-choking out power of what God has said & done from being fruitful in our lives). Talk about not created to walk with cares; contrary to innocence. Describe cares: describe how they can try to steal innocence. Cares can steal innocence, corrupt conscience. Casting cares in the throne room restores innocence in the sense of our conscience can be washed clean for being corrupted by meditation on how to get it right. Describe how coming into the throne room with unconcealed heart casts care onto God restores innocence. Cares include burdens. Cares we take upon ourselves. Paint picture of how it looks using the psalmist King David ****When Jesus says the cares of this world can be a stumbling block to the Word of Jesus being fruitful in our lives He is talking about anything that can corrupt our conscience with worries, burdens, concerns, anxieties. He is talking about any issues in our life, any concern we have about ourselves or those we love, or that we have relationships with in our lives. He is talking about any type of issue that can arise in our lives that our minds become consumed with. Where we begin to meditate on them, and our imaginations become captivated by these things and we begin to twist on them to try to figure them out; to fix them; to bring forth life in all the situations we are concerned with.******** *******Example of eating from tree of knowledge of good and evil. Where we judge what the good life is, and we enlist our ability to bring forth the good life?**
