STAGE 3 - MATHEMATICS Number and Algebra – Addition/Subtraction Run or Die Suggested Outcomes MA3-5NA Selects and applies appropriate strategies for addition and subtraction with counting numbers of any size Resources Large PVC dice – 6 sided, 10 sided, 12 sided, 20 sided Cones Trundle wheel Whiteboards (small) Whiteboard markers Instructions 4 teams each with one PVC die 1 person from each team throws their die That person runs out and records at the numbers thrown by all teams Once all 4 teams are recorded they go back to their teams to add the total Alternatives The students must run around an object first before looking at the dice. The students need to run obstacle course (hurdles, agility ladders) before looking at dice. The students throw the dice through a target before looking at the dice. Start at an amount e.g. 301 and they subtract their total of 4 throws from this amount. Working towards the exact final amount at the end.
