PURPOSE AND OVERVIEW (max. 5 sentences)
Studying the most important pieces of the musical literature in the historical development of European and world
artistic music. Adoption and understanding of the important stylistic and aesthetic processes in the development of
musical literature from the appearance of music to the end of the 20th century.
SYLLABUS (brief outline and summary of topics, max. 10 sentences)
Theoretical study
Historical overview of the development of music and music literature, genres and forms,
instruments and music ensembles of early, middle and late 19th century romanticism, impressionism, expressionism and
neo-baroque and neoclassical orientations of the 20th century. Meeting the most important composers and their works
selected for certain style period.
Practical teaching
Studying the most important examples of musical literature through listening and
analysis of selected pieces of the musical literature. Introduction to most significant
ensembles, conductors and performers.
