April 13, 2015 Andover Station North Meeting was called to order by the President at 7:04 Present: Mike Keeney, Sheila Schueller, Vicki Kruth, Mike Lee, Kara Fox, Patti Murnane, Dean Althoff, Jason Saulsbury, Wade Tollefson, Ross Johnson, Steve Eckes, Kelly Abbas, Sean Fogarty, Curt Stirzl and Marc Angell Not Present: Jim Childs and Dean Polsfut Guest: Dawson Blanck with MYAS presented ABA with a new Trusted Coaches Verification program that MYAS is running. For $35 a coach they will get a background check, concussion training, first aid training and coaching training. It will be all administrated through MYAS and the coaches will receive a card and a seal that they are a Trusted Coach. Associations will purchase coaches seats that are good for 1 yr. and will be able to use cross sports verification. ABA board had some questions for Dawson and will be getting back to ABA on those. Tournament Director: Vicki brought up an opportunity for ABA to possibly get a gambling license. Vicki and Jason are looking at attending a gambling workshop in May. Uniform Director: Update on uniforms for traveling Equipment Manager: Equipment pick up for all in-house teams will be April 26th from 9am-12:30pm at ASN. Umpire Director: working with Anoka Baseball Association on Wednesday to iron out all the scheduling and expectations for the 2015 season. Volunteer Director: Kara gave update on the 2015 season. 53 families opted out for the season. All uniforms will be held for the team unless all volunteer checks are in for the team. 10-12 house Director: Update on 11&12’s. Sean and Mike Keeney will be talking to Anoka in regards to the possibility of ABA joining the 11 yr. olds and 12 yr. olds due to low number of registrants. Facilities Director: update on field equipment and a thanks to all board members who helped place equipment on fields. 13-15 Age Director: An outline of the coach’s summit will be mailed out the end of the week to all board members. Patti will be manually entering 15 players for the sandlot league. If the player is playing in 2 of ABA’s leagues there will be a $50 reduction in cost to play in the sandlot league that is played on Sundays. Update on Flaa tournament Registration Director: As of today there is 525 in house players for the 2015 season. Coach and Player Development: Playbook review along with field maintance training will be held this week. President: ABA will be able to hold concessions at ASN. There is a $317 county license that ABA will need to purchase. The concession committee will meet and get back to the board on recommendations. In house parent meeting will be at Andover Elementary on April 27th at 7pm. Tryout dates for high school age players will be the following: 15-16 yr. olds will be May 9 & 10th at ASN 17-19 yr. olds will be May 16 & 17th at ASN Board member replacement program- will post opening 6 months ahead for the new board members to shadow the outgoing board member. Look to change this in the by-laws. Field improvement committee is looking to purchase a sound system and windscreen for ASN. Mound covers, plate covers and base covers for the cost of $1730 per field on ASN. Supports for the batting cages to be able to turn the batting cages from 2 tunnels to 4.-Look for vote on-line. President Club Committee : Jason, Sheila, Mike Keeney, Ross and Patti Mike Keeney made a motion to pay half of the cost of protective netting at ASN for the amount of $480, second by Patti, motion passes Patti made a motion to purchase lunch for the Andover Park employees, not to exceed $200, Kelly second, motion passes. Mike Keeney made a motion to pass the Feb and March board meeting minutes, second by Vicki, motion passes. Ross made a motion to Adjourn at 9:40, second by Sean, motion passes. Sheila made a motion to award 2 $300 scholarships to past players at the Andover High School Awards, second by Jim, Motion passes-via email Mike Keeney made a motion to spend $650 to upgrade the batting cages, second by Vicki, motion passes-via email
