FRIDAY NEWSLETTER LET’S CELEBRATE LEARNING! This week at school we concluded our study on Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. We focused on: How can we create less trash? During Tuesday’s morning discussion & shared writing, the children were asked, “What things can you give someone instead of throwing them away? What other things can be reused by someone else?” Shaina- One of my clothes were too small so I gave it to my friend in India. Mila- I gave my purple shoes away to someone else. Abby- I gave my baby’s toys to a little tiny baby. Oliver- I gave away a plastic car. Adele- Someone can reuse shoes. During Choice Time this week, the children were invited to make paper bag costumes in the art area and also a gift wrapping store using leftover wrapping paper and reused boxes. In the book The Paper Bag Princess, which consisted of three readalouds during the study, a dragon attacks princess Elizabeth’s castle, burns all her clothes, and carries away the prince she is supposed to marry. Elizabeth has nothing left to wear because all her clothes were destroyed in the fire so she uses a paper bag to wear instead. Check out our class’s paper bag costumes which they wore during the celebration! Niko and Ben stringmilk cartons for our celebration banner. HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY Jordyn and Nikolai!!
