Dr. Fikri Selçuk ŞİMŞEK Aims and Objectives of the Course This course aims to teach the students pathophysiology, clinical signs, physical examination findings, laboratory findings and pharmacological treatment of diseases related to cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Course contents Atherosclerosis: aetiology, predisposing risk factors, pathology and biochemical markers Atherosclerotic heart disease: clinical evaluation of coronary artery disease, Acute coronary Sendrome, myocardial infarction, pathology of ischaemic heart disease, Antihyperlipidemic drugs Congestive heart failure: clinical and laboratory findings, treatment Hypertension: clinical evaluation of the hypertensive patient, antihypertensive drugs Arrhythmias: arrhythmogenesis, mechanism of cardiac aritmy, clinical and electrocardiographic findings of most common cardiac arrhythmias, Bradicardia, tachicardia Signs and symptoms in cardiac disease Valvulary heart disease: pathophysiology, clinical and laboratory findings of rheumatic fever, valvulary heart disease and their treatment Diseases of the myocardium, endocardium and pericardium: pathophysiology and clinical findings of the cardiomyopathies, endocarditis and pericarditis Congenital heart diseases(Siyonotic and non siyanotic): congenital heart diseases most common in childhood and adults and treatment modalities Diseases of respiratory system: pathophysiology, clinical and laboratory findings of infectious/noninfectious pulmonary diseases in childhood and adults, drugs used in the treatment of these diseases Tubercolose and laboratory findings and treatment Astma bronshiale symtoms and treatment Intersitsy lung disease Kronic obstrictive lung disease Bronshiectasi Torasic Outlet Sendrome Deformty of torax Pulmonary embolism diagnosis and treatment Diseases of pleura: pathophysiology, clinical signs and treatment Orthomyxovirus, Paramyxovirus, Herpes virus, Hepatit viruses Assessment Methods Two clinical practice exams during the course and one written exam at the end of the course are scheduled.
