2A) What did the Romans learn from the Greeks?

Architecture
- made advances in arches; used them to build larger structures
with huge ceilings
- built aqueducts to bring fresh water to cities
- new building material: CONCRETE – mix of stone, sand, cement
and water that becomes hard as rock.
- mixed Etruscan and Greek styles to create their own.
Religion
- polytheistic: believed in many gods
- Roman gods were similar to Greek gods, but more violent and
disciplined
- adopted Greek heroes
Government
- adopted some democratic ideals about self-rule, or people having
say in government (mostly in republic)
Education
- studied philosophy, astronomy, math
- valued learning, like the Greeks
- learned truth through reason (like Socrates)
