INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES:
This paper consists of two sections, A, and B.
Section A contains one compulsory question.
Section B contains three questions. Answer any two questions from this section.
Each candidate is provided with a new formatted 3.5” diskette of high density or a
blank compact disc – rewritable.
Each candidate must produce a hard copy for each of their work to accompany the
diskette or compact disc.
Software help wizards must not be used.

SECTION A: (20 MARKS)
Answer all questions in this section..
1. a) (i) Type the text below using any word processing application program. (06 marks)
Computer Virus
A computer virus is damaging program that affects a computer negatively by altering the way the computer
works without the user's knowledge or permission. Once a virus is in a computer, it can spread throughout
and damage your files and OS. Antivirus utilities are programs that scan for computer viruses, remove,
disinfect and repair damaged files. A computer virus is a program or piece of code that operates by
attaching itself to some other program or downloaded file. When this program starts, the virus code
unintentionally runs, replicates itself and infacts other programs or documents on the PC. A computer virus
spreads mainly via e-mail attachments, downloadable files from the Internet or floppy disks. Virus infection
can be prevented by installing (and maintaining) anti-virus software, among other strategies, some of which
are outlined in this advice sheet. A computer virus can seriously damage or completely destroy files or
software on a computer. The result is that files may be lost permanently, programs may not function
correctly, the overall performance of a computer may be slowed down or useful data may be lost in case
the virus erases the whole hard disk. The process involved in repairing the damage can be time consuming
and expensive.
ii) Break the text into two paragraphs, the second beginning with "Virus infection ..... "

iii) Drop cap the first letter of each paragraph to two lines

iv) Make the heading appear in Title case, Bold, double underlined and font size 17.

v) Make your text appear in font color dark blue, and Arial 13 font type.

vi) Make necessary spell checks in your document.

vii) Underline the word "virus" wherever it appears and make it color red.
(2 marks)
viii) Save your file as "your name" in a folder Virus.' in your exam folder.

1 b) The following spreadsheet shows the profit or loss on sales at an ice-cream stall
during a four week period.
i) Load a suitable spreadsheet package and generate a similar sales schedule.

(iii) Using the Week names and the profit, create a pie chart. Give it an
appropriate title and locate it on its own worksheet.

(iv) Rename the Chart Worksheet to PROFIT PIE CHART.

(v) Add your name and student number as footer to your chart.

(vi) Print the data and the chart separately.

website.
(ii) A brief welcome message and information about the Farm of not less than 20
words.

(ii) A table showing products such as Eggs, 1-day old chicks, Layers, Broilers,
Turkeys, Ducks, Chicken Feed, e.t.c, with their corresponding prices.
(iii)A few related photos (from the clip art section or otherwise) with their
corresponding captions.
