SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Accents & Dialects: Usage of accents and dialects for the actor, especially Standard British, Cockney,
American Southern, Russian, and German. Identification and imitation of signature sounds in an
unfamiliar accent or dialect.
International Phonetic Alphabet: The sounds and symbols of the International Phonetic Alphabet
and how it enhances the work of actors and directors.
Vocal Anatomy & Health: Basic vocal and respiratory anatomy, awareness of one’s instrument. Basic
vocal health and care for the actor.
Voice: Vocal dynamics, breath support, diction and articulation, projection, character voices, and
connecting voice with movement to create character.
Children’s Theatre: Basic acting techniques to aid actors new to children’s theatre. Adjustments that
need to be made for a child audience as well as common yet unnecessary hyper-corrections.
