of some of the major new features that have been implemented in this release.

Microsoft Office Project 2003 Offerings
Microsoft Office Project 2003 provides two offerings for your work and people management needs:

Microsoft Office Project Standard 2003 is the standalone desktop program for Microsoft Office
users who want to effectively plan, track and communicate project information but who do not
require Web-based coordination or collaboration with other project participants; enterprise
standardization across projects; or the ability to manage enterprise resources from a central
resource pool. Project Standard 2003 is ideal for Microsoft Office users who want to make an
impact at work, and helps them plan, manage, and communicate project information, resulting in
increased productivity and effectiveness.

The Microsoft Office Enterprise Project Management (EPM) Solution brings together client, server,
and Web-based technologies to enable organizations, departments, and teams to efficiently
manage their projects, people, and processes through familiar tools. The Microsoft Office EPM
Solution consists of the following core Microsoft Office Project 2003 products and technologies.

Microsoft Office Project Professional 2003 is the Microsoft Office enterprise project
management program in the EPM Solution. Project Professional is used by project managers
for effectively planning projects, optimizing resource assignments, and implementing
repeatable project management processes.

Microsoft Office Project Server 2003 is the extensible platform that supports the EPM
Solution. Project Server 2003 enables organizations to centralize and standardize project and
resource information for greater visibility and consistent reporting across an entire work
portfolio.

Microsoft Office Project Web Access is the Web portal in the EPM Solution. Project Web
Access provides project teams with access to information stored in Project Server and
promotes participation through familiar Web-based tools.
This document focuses on new features and functionality in Microsoft Office Project Standard 2003.

Shared Workspaces
The new Copy Picture to Microsoft Office wizard helps
you more easily present Project data in Microsoft
Office Word, Microsoft Office PowerPoint® and
Microsoft Office Visio®.
The Project Guide now has a “Print Current View as a
Report” wizard to help users print what they see. This
makes it easier to print out one-page schedules.
The XML reporting wizard helps you generate HTML
documents from Project data using XSL templates.
Shared Workspaces allow users to store Project files
and other documents centrally with others who do
not need the power of Microsoft Office Project Server.
Shared workspaces are based on Windows
SharePoint Services, which is a component
technology of and therefore requires Windows Server
2003.

You can download a template to start your projects

online content, a Most Recently Used project list, and
featured links information.
The Help Pane displays the expanded set of Help
alternatives, including the ability to search or browse
the Web to find the information you need.
Assistance on Microsoft® Office Online is now the
online help environment for Microsoft Office Project.
It provides up-to-date Help resources and references
for Microsoft Office Project 2003 and Office 2003
programs.

crash reporting technology shared among Microsoft
Office programs and operating systems such as
