This link is to an article previously published in the Hindustan Times. It discusses the
theory of the Aryan invasion of the Indus Valley civilization and offers evidence to disprove it.
Dr. N.S. Rajaram, the author, uses concrete evidence and solid logic to show that the Harappan
civilization had actually declined as a result of drought. The article also proposes that the Indus
Valley civilization was actually more advanced than previously believed. It points out that many
of its achievements, such as those in sanitation and city planning, could not have been achieved
without advanced knowledge in geometry and other types of mathematics. I chose this link
because it offered a different perspective on the commonly held theory for the Harappan decline.
It does more than rehash the usual information about the Indus Valley civilization. This article
shows an entirely different Harappan society than the one usually depicted in textbooks.
