Saturday April 26th 9am – Noon Keep Lewisville Beautiful Community Clean Up Day Saturday April 26th 9am- 2pm Camp Summit Volunteer day Sunday April 27th;- Feed the Flower Mound 1pm We are conducting vision screenings on the last Sunday of every month at the Lewisville Library from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. On Sunday, March 30, 17 people were screened. The 3 year old we identified needing an exam has already been to the doctor and fitted with glasses. Thank you Phil and LION Teri for assisting us with the vision screenings. If any LIONS would like come and serve please let Lion Tom know. KFMB Environmental Fair The event went well in Flower Mound, (a little cool). Lots of people dropped by to find where our recycling locations were located, so those of you with Flower Mound locations look of an increase in collection number. We talked with Home Depot to plan next time to have a shed in which to conduct vision screenings with the SPOT World Lunch Relay Thanks to PDG Jim, LION Karri, LION Tom and LION Brian for attending the lunch event! LION Karri and LION Brian have just got our Twitter account and Facebook account linked to work together so when we send something out on Twitter, it is immediately sent out on Facebook too! We are starting to learn the social media networking game and believe it is going to improve our presence in our Lewisville and Flower Mound communities. With help of Phil Loewenstein and his marketing knowledge we believe that we can improve our presence with the local media as well. We will be working hard to inform everyone about our upcoming May 13 meeting on the I-35 widening project in hopes of having the public attend the event. Adult provided eyeglasses A lady who visited us at the January Library screening needed new glasses because hers were damage and her prescription were over 3 years old. She receiver her new glasses two weeks ago! Hanks to the Drs. Bowens and Bowen Eye Care for their continuing support of our adult vision activities. LISD Children assistance LION Karri reports that we have authorized 30 children for exam and new glasses. This is in addition to the 13 children we served at the after hours Hedrick Health Fair in November Upcoming long range LISD vision events We are still planning on a trip to the District ERC located in Watauga in the May timeframe. Saturday August 9th- Back to school event, Lewisville High, Harmon campus We will be conducting vision screenings for kids up to 1st grade from 9am to 2pm. We hope the Highland Village LIONS will be able to join us so we can run 2 screening lanes with both of our SPOTS Late October 2014 Hedrick Health fairWe are already in conversation with the ESSILOR Foundation to use their self contained ESSIOR Vision van to support the Hedrick heath fair. We are planning on provide exams and glasses to 16 kids the night. Using the ERC resources TLC camper endorsed Just wanted you to know that last week someone contacted LION Carl asking if the LIONS could provide some eyeglasses for a mission trip they we involved with. LION Carl contact LION Jim Cook at the local ERC and we LIONS were able to provide 150 pairs of In March we endorsed an application for a blind child to attend the 3rd session of the Texas LIONS camp this year!
