Company Overview
The Bon-Aire restaurant is a high-class dining facility located at the North Shore
in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. My restaurant serves fine foods and wines on white cloth
tables. The view of the city is spectacular from any seat inside. The Bon-Aire is also boat
friendly; with their own private dock available to restaurant guests.
Location
The Bon-Aire is located on North Shore drive parallel to Heinz Field. It is also right next
to door to the Jerome Bettis Grill.
Products
Our menu is full of fine seafood, steak, and chicken. Our specialties are Maui Maui,
Lobster tails, Eel, Filet Mignon, and Chicken Milano. We also have a vast variety of
other favorite seafood dishes.
Estimate Sales
Our estimated sales are around 2.5 million at this particular account. Most of our revenue
comes from Seafood and Steak, since they are the most expensive items.
People
CEO
I am the CEO and owner of the Bon-Aire. I started the company and hope to expand in
the future. One day I had a vision of operating the finest restaurant Pittsburgh had to offer
and now my dream has come true. My daily tasks are managing all of the finances,
inventory, and team. I also have to take care of the building I own and make sure it meets
the standards of North Shore. I must keep the grounds clean and lavish.
Manager
I have one general manager who is right below me and basically runs the whole
restaurant. He takes care of the guest complaints and also manages the team of workers.
This includes all the cooks, waiters, and hostess. He is constantly on the floor helping
employees and does a very good job at managing.
Hostess
I have one main Hostess that controls the lobby of the Bon-Aire. She has a touch screen
monitor in front of her and seats the customers. At any given point she knows how many
people are in the restaurant and how many seats are available.
2
Hardware
The electric, electronic, and mechanical components of a computer.
System Components
This includes, the computers, monitor, mouse, touch screens, and printers.
Input Devices
My input device that I am using is a keyboard and mouse. Also every table has a touch
screen monitor that is an input device for ordering food.
Output Devices
The output devices that the Bon-Aire uses are a printer, scanner, and flat-panel monitor.
The printer is used to print out employee schedules, and inventory. The scanner is used to
make copies of receipts that the trucks bring in.
Storage
My storage devices include the CD/DVD drive, hard disk drive, memory cards, card
reader/writer, and a flash drive. The memory cards are used in my security cameras. The
flash drives hold information on recipes. My hard drive holds information about the BonAire finances.
Network
My network will consist of two computers. One of computers will be at the front desk of
the lobby and the other will be in the back office. They will both be connected to each
other via wireless network. This way I can access all my information at the front desk and
in the back office. The front desk computer will have my finances locked though so
employees cannot access this information.
Software
The software that my computers consist of is Microsoft Office. This includes Word,
Outlook, and Excel. I would use Word to type up important memos to the company staff.
I would use Excel to create employee schedules, and track inventory. Then I would use
Outlook to send and receive email at the Bon-Aire.
Word Processing
Since I am using Microsoft Word, this will allow me to create documents that will help
with advertising. I am going to use Clip Art to create menus that I can have outside my
restaurant, and I will also place these around the Pittsburgh area. Since I am using touch
screen menus, the word processer will allow me to branch out.
Spreadsheets
A spreadsheet will allow me to organize data into rows and columns and perform
calculations of the data. When using a spreadsheet at my restaurant it will be used for
3
organizing my staff. I will then be able to print out schedules or send it out through an
email. Another great reason to use a spreadsheet is to keep track of how much product is
in my store and what needs to be ordered. Every week I can enter this data into Excel and
then send an order out to my ingredient company
Database
This will allow users to create, access, and manage a database. I can edit the different
customers that I have, like for ingredients, seafood, and chicken. This will allow me to
add, change, or delete information if necessary.
Presentation
I really won’t be doing any presentations at the Bon-Aire, maybe just for some specific
clients. This allows me to create visual aids for presentations to communicate ideas,
messages, and other information to a group.
Graphic/Arts
If I needed to present and use graphics I could use Computer-Aided Design, or
Paint/Image Editing.
Web Design
Word and Excel include web authoring features. This will allow me to create my own
website for the Bon-Aire restaurant. I can also include images, video, audio, animation,
and other special effects.
Communication
Some software for communication that I will use includes a Web Browser, Email, and
FTP. A web browser will allow users to view web pages on the Internet. Email is
messages and files sent via a network such as the internet. This will allow my employees
to get notifications and work times through email. FTP is a method of uploading and
downloading files with other computers on the Internet. I will use this to upload my menu
on the Internet.
Data
Employees
The Bon-Aire will consist of 30 to 50 Employees. This includes the CEO, Managers,
Cooks, Host/Hostess, Waiter/Waitress, and Door Greeter.
Customers
I will have two types of customers, Internal and External. The Internal customers will
consist of all of my suppliers. That includes food, dinner ware, paper ware, and
essentials. My External customers are the ones the company was designer for. This are
the people that come into my restaurant for a good meal.
4
Products
My products are all food items. They mainly consist of fine seafood and steak. We serve
lunch and dinner.
Equipment
The equipment I will be using is ovens, refrigerator, freezer, toasters, heat lamps, fryers,
and other various kitchen equipment. Monitors in the kitchen for the cooks to look at to
see what customers are ordering.
Procedures
Normal Operating
The Bon-Aires’ normal operating hours are from 10am to Midnight.
Back Up
All of my files are saved on an external hard drive that I can take home with me every
night.
Failure
Our computers are equipped with Anti Spyware and Anti Virus software. This is just in
case employees are looking up material they shouldn’t be while at work. In case there is a
failure like a computer crash, I will have a power save mode so all computers and touch
screens do not fail.
Conclusion
The two computers that are in the Bon-Aire are backed up and secure.
