One unique element to working in New York City is the ability to easily commute from other
locations, even states. It is a common practice and actually allows transferring individuals and/or
families far more housing options. Below is a snap shot of some of the other considerations when
looking outside of New York City. Your decision on where you live is an individual choice, largely
based on your budget and life style. On your initial call, we will discuss all of your options!
Consider this:
With this in mind, you should evaluate some key items for your move, including:
• How big a home do you need? How many bedrooms?
• What other home amenities are important such as a yard or garage?
• What kind of pets do you have?
• What is your budget?
• What do you consider to be a comfortable commuting time?
• Are you looking to drive in or take the train? It’s important to look at travel in terms of time and
not distance. For example, Fairfield is less than 60 miles from New York City but at rush hour
can take several hours to drive in. Whereas the Metro North Train will take an hour.
• Is your decision to look outside of New York City due to cost vs. need? If so, it’s important to
look at the commuting and parking costs in the areas of interest.
