KIDS QUEST CHILD ILLNESS POLICY
Children who are mildly ill may remain at the center provided that none of the following
conditions exist:

A temperature, when taken orally, of 101 degrees or
higher or axillary (under the arm) of 100 degrees or higher.
Three cases of severe diarrhea or frequent watery stools
since admission that day.
The child has vomited since admission
that day.
Acute symptoms of a cold or drainage from the eyes.
Significant respiratory distress.
Inability to participate in child care program activities
with reasonable comfort.
An undiagnosed rash or rash attributable to a contagious
illness or condition.
A determination by management that the child is too
ill to remain at the center.
Contagious diseases
a. Children with any contagious diseases such as chicken pox, mumps, strep
throat, pink eye, flu, impetigo, scabies, lice, etc. should remain at home until
certified by a physician to no longer be contagious.
b. Parents are asked to notify the center of any contagious illness so that other
parents may be informed.
If any of the above conditions exist, the child must be immediately isolated from other
children and placed under appropriate supervision. The parent/guardian must be notified
and the child must be removed promptly.
This policy does not supersede State, City, or County policies that regulate children with
illness in child care settings. This policy is to be construed in conjunction with any
governmental regulations on this subject.
