Press Release Freecom Network Drive: Storage in the network made easy German-Dutch IT manufacturer presents affordable network hard drive with LAN & USB port and practical configuration assistant Berlin, June 2007 – Freecom’s new Network Drive is the ideal NAS solution or all those who need extra storage space on the home or company network – quickly and without complications or high investment costs. Following connection to the router or switch, the practical “Freecom Network Storage Assistant” guides even those less experienced with networks through the installation process, thereby ensuring that the Network Drive is soon available to all network subscribers. Front side The Network Drive communicates via TCP/IP, which has established itself as the standard protocol for data exchange within networks and over the Internet. This guarantees the unrestricted compatibility of the Network Drive when incorporated into existing network environments. Thanks to the assignment of its own IP address, worldwide access to the Network Drive is possible independently and at any time – without any computer or server in the office having to be switched on. The 3.5” hard disk can also be used independently of the network: thanks to the integral USB 2.0 port, the Network Drive can be used as an individual drive, and therefore just like a “normal” external hard disk. The simple, elegant housing with LED display is made of 2 mm-thick aluminium, providing optimum heat absorption. This makes the Network Drive as quiet as a whisper in operation, not needing to be equipped with a fan. Rear side The Freecom Network Drive is available in the shops immediately with capacities of 250 GB and 500 GB. The package includes a power supply unit, one LAN and one USB cable, a Quick Install Guide and a multi-lingual manual on CD together with the installation software.
