Irregular Plurals
Sometimes plurals are formed in irregular ways: shelf = shelves
loaf = loaves. Unfortunately, there is no rule to follow for irregular plural words
– you have to memorize how these words are spelled!

26th:
Write the words in alphabetical order. Write the definition for the
odd numbered words - please do not copy and paste from a web
dictionary or copy from a dictionary - read the definition and write
your own definition.
2. Tuesday, November 27th:
Using a passage from: Passage to Freedom from Reading Streets.
a) Make a list and write all the “power verbs” (5)
b) Make a list and write all of the nouns (5)
c) Make a list of the singular version for each word (buffalos =
buffalo)
3. Wednesday, November 28th:
Using 10 words from the spelling list, write a well crafted paragraph
about one of the following topics: volcanoes, flamingos, or buffalos.
Use vivid verbs (not walk, run, or fly), be creative about what
happened to your volcano, flamingo, or buffalo. Paragraph needs to
be 10-12 sentences, be descriptive, and use “Show-not-Tell”.
4. Thursday, November 29th:
Using Passage to Freedom from Reading Streets, find 3 examples of
this week’s essential skill: Author’s Purpose. Do you think the
purpose was to inform, entertain, or persuade?
* You may choose to email your assignments directly to your teacher.
 Spelling test will be on Friday, November 30, 2012. Please study the list of words and be prepared
on Friday.
 All assignments need to typed or written very neatly.

All assignments need to be labeled and organized.
