the policy of extending the rule or authority of an empire or nation over foreign countries
COLONISTS
Members of a society that move to a foreign location to live and expand the influence of
their home country.
COLONIZED
The native/local population that have been taken over by foreign colonist.
SOVEREIGNTY
Independence—having power to govern yourself and/or others
SOCIAL DARWINISM
A stronger society takes over weaker societies. According to this theory, this is a
natural process that should occur.
ELITISM
Consciousness of or pride in belonging to a select or favored group
CAPITALISM
An economic system in which investment in and ownership of the means of production,
distribution, and exchange of wealth is made and maintained chiefly by private individuals
or corporations, especially as contrasted to cooperatively or state-owned means of
wealth
EXPLOITATION
Take advantage of something at the cost of someone else.
