The RFB document states that these units are “MG Scale”. We are operating on the assumption that his means milligram scale with regards to the catalyst mass. Is this correct? A1. CORRECT Q2. The reactor material should be Inconel in order to meet your temperature specification, but the rest of the construction can be stainless steel. If there are any catalytic issues with Inconel and your catalyst we will need to know. A2. SHOULD BE FINE Q3. Regarding the gases we will need to know the approximate flow rate and what type of gases are being used in order to properly specify the size and type of mass flow controllers that will be installed. If the reactors are designed for a milligram of catalyst in order to achieve a reasonable weight hourly space velocity (depending upon the type of gases, of course) these MFCs would control flow at less than a liter a minute. Is this a fair assumption? A3. ABSOLUTELY: FLOW RATES SHOULD BE BELOW 100 mL/min GASSES: O2, inert (N2/He) and HYDROCARBONS (like PROPANE, BUTANE/BUTENE, METHANE) Q4. If the gases and liquids are flammable there will likely be safety concerns – i.e. leak detection, automated shut offs, LEL sensors, explosion-proof wiring, etc. Are the precursor fluids or products of the reaction flammable, and if so do you have safety systems already in place or should we address this as part of our bid? A4. GASES: SEE POINT 3; so yes: some of them are flammable LIQUIDS: e.g. ETHANOL: so also flammable IT WOULD BE GREAT IF A SAFETY SYSTEM COULD BE ADDED AS AN OPTION Q5. For the reactor that requires the potential use of the HPLC pump, is the HPLC provided or should it be included in our quote? A5. SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE QUOTE Q6. Unless otherwise specified we will operate on the assumption that both of the reactors will be contained within the same skid rather than building two separate skids. Is this a fair assumption? A6. AS LONG AS WE CAN INDEPENDENTLY OPERATE BOTH REACTORS IT'S FINE FOR US
