DISCLAIMER: PLEASE READ!
Merely following the directions for “in order to earn an A” does not necessarily assure
you of earning an A. You must do an outstanding job with your project, not simply a
mediocre job of completing the things listed. The projects must be neat, aesthetically
pleasing, follow the basic grammar rules, and most importantly, indicate that you
understood the play and its themes. The “Minimum Requirements” must be met in
order to earn a passing grade.
Your teacher will not provide you with supplies or class time!
Interview Assignment
Create a fictitious interview of Macbeth or Lady Macbeth, which will include specific
questions about the relationship, the murder of Duncan, the effect of guilt on the human
conscience. This must be done in written form and on audio or videotape. Minimum 25
questions from the interviewer with Macbeth’s or Lady Macbeth’s complete answers.
In order to earn an A, you must videotape the interview and have costumes.
Macbeth’s Journal

entries in the journal must relate to specific events with Macbeth’s reactions to each of
them. The entries must also include Macbeth’s general feelings about life and love. It
need not be written in Shakespeare’s language but must be consistent with Macbeth’s
feelings as Shakespeare presented them in the play. Minimum number of entries is
seven, with each entry being at least 75 words long.
In order to earn an A, you must have at least twelve entries of at least 75 words.
Macbeth confronts the witches
Imagine that Macbeth has a confrontation with the witches in which he blames them for
his troubles. What would happen? You may write it in dramatic or narrative form.
Macbeth’s comments must be based in the fact that he thinks none of this would have
happened if the witches had not been involved. Minimum length 500 words.
In order to earn an A, you must perform this either live or on videotape and have a
costume.
Song Writing
Write song lyrics that are related to one of the main themes of the play: ambition,
manipulation, isolation/darkness, or the effects of guilt on the conscience. Choose an
existing melody and write new lyrics for it. Include a written explanation of why you
chose the theme you did and why you chose the particular music. Submit a copy of the
original song with your lyrics.
In order to earn an A, you must record the song on audio or videotape.
