2._____ _____ ________ Open the suction valve for the new pump, if it is not normally open.
3._____ _____ ________ Open the discharge valve for the new pump.

6._____ _____ ________ Close the discharge valve for the pump you just shut off.
7._____ _____ ________ Contact the unit operator and verify that he is still receiving feed.
8._____ _____ ________ Stand by the pump long enough to make sure that the pump is working
normally.

PROCEDURE INFORMATION
Purpose:
This procedure describes the steps necessary to switch from one unit feed pump to
another. This would be necessary if the pump were being taken offline for maintenance. Switching
pumps on a regular basis also reduces wear on both pumps.
Prerequisites: N / A
Responsibility:
The pumpers have the responsibility for switching unit charge pumps.
Materials and Equipment: No special equipment is required
Safety Requirements:
No special safety precautions are required
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
Normal Tank Farm personal protective equipment must
be worn at all times. This includes Hard Hats, Fire Retardant Clothing, Safety Glasses and Safety
Shoes. Additional Protective Equipment may be required per the Permit Requirements.

No special quality requirements
