Lesson Plan for SD 3.2 (50 minutes):
Target: I can draw triangles with specific criteria.

Warm-up (notebook)
Launch video and model at least one construction (you may find
that you need to model more, depending on the class – it’s really
tough for them to put together all of these pieces.)
Discuss the pattern for how much information is needed to draw
a triangle that is an exact copy (it may help to tell them that this is a
preview of geometry in 10th grade – encourage them to focus on
being able to draw triangles with specific criteria.) It’s great if you
can have them share triangles that they drew that have the same
criteria, but look different than the original triangle (so they can see
there are multiple ways to draw some of them).
Exit Ticket
Reminders:
• Correct homework with key (puzzle)
Investigation 2 : The Angle Connection
SD 3.2 Design Challenge
Learning Target: I can identify what side lengths make a triangle.
Homework: Day 3 SD 3.2 Complete p. 9 and
CORRECT with the KEY
Warm-up: Complete in your journal or Inv. Packet!
Emma says that you can make
a triangle with any three side lengths.
(Remember Building Triangles Yesterday)
Do you agree or disagree?
Explain your reasoning and provide an
example to prove your thinking.
Review Concepts!
• What’s a compliment of a 60 degree angle?
• What’s a supplement of a 60 degree angle?
• How do I draw a triangle with side AB=1in,
Angle ABC=45 degrees, and side BC=2in?
Problem 3.2: Which of these short messages give enough
information to draw a triangle congruent to ABC?
