Using Your Flash/Thumb Drive Correctly
To find an available USB Port on your computer, look for the USB Port symbol.
Align the USB connector with the port. There is only one way to insert a USB
device, so if the connector does not easily slide in, turn the connector over and
try again.
You can connect a USB device to your computer while the computer is turned on. However, plugging in
or unplugging a USB device while the device is in use could result in damaging the files on the device.
To safely disconnect a USB device from the computer, left-click on the USB icon in the Windows Taskbar
icon area and dialog box will appear. Select the device you want to stop and left-click. A message will
appear indicating when it is safe to remove the USB device (See sample message box below).
Caring for Your Flash/thumb Drive

Keep your thumb/flash drive away from dangling keys and other heavy object. This puts
strain on the connector when it is inserted into the USB port on the computer.

Keep away from liquids and food (i.e. crumbs, etc).

Keep the US connector clean and protected. Lint, dirt and other foreign elements can
damage the connect resulting in loss of data. Drives should be stored with their caps on.

Flash storage devices, while quite reliable, can be damaged when dropped on hard
surfaces.

Do not store important data solely on Flash storage devices. Always have a backup!
