Young Auditorium Announces 2014-2015 Performance Season Line Up
WHITEWATER – Earlier this month, Young Auditorium released its new 2014-2015 performance
season line up to the public with the campaign slogan, “Come Be Amazed!” Tickets for any show can
be purchased online, by calling the Box Office at (262) 472-2222, or in person. New this year, tickets
that are purchased online can also be printed at home. The Greenhill Center of the Arts Box Office is
located inside the UW-Whitewater Center of the Arts building near Barnett Theatre on the UWWhitewater Campus (930 West Main Street in Whitewater). The Young Auditorium is adjacent to this
building, also located at 930 West Main Street in Whitewater, and parking is always free at the venue.
The season presents several opportunities to experience the energy and excitement of live theatre,
dance, music, comedy, and family programming at very reasonable prices. Most shows are priced
under $40 per ticket, some performances have absolutely FREE admission, and several events have
gourmet dining options available for under $20 per plate.
Thirty shows are scheduled during the season, which runs September 2014 – April 2015. Below are
just some of the highlights:

SEPTEMBER 17, 2014 - WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL – TOTALLY FREE EVENT; the
community is invited to experience the diversity of world music – live – at this season kick-off
event. Four ensembles from around the world – the Buenos Aires underground, Turkey, Mali
and Latin America – are performing on UW-Whitewater grounds and the Young Auditorium for

OCTOBER 9, 2014 – THE MCCARTNEY YEARS – TICKETS UNDER $31; there are many
Beatles tributes, but only ONE show that celebrates the genius of Paul McCartney at the
height of his career in the mid-1970s – and this is it! Sponsored by DLK Enterprises

OCTOBER 23, 2014 – CAPTIOL STEPS – TICKETS UNDER $35 (dining option available);
laugh out loud as this nationally touring troupe of ex-Congressional staffers satirizes U.S.
politics through songs, skits and comedic antics. Sponsored by First Citizens State Bank

NOVEMBER 3, 2014 – AILEY II-REVELATIONS – TICKETS UNDER $33; started in 1974 as
the Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble, this company embodies Ailey’s creative vision. This
heritage tribute performance uses African-American spirituals, song-sermons, gospel songs,
holy blues, and a dynamic stage setting to tell its story.

NOVEMBER 15, 2014 – LEO KOTTKE – TICKETS UNDER $33; the one and only Leo Kottke
is coming to Whitewater for an energetic and entertaining night of great 12-string acoustic
guitar music. Sponsored by IPEC

NOVEMBER 17, 2014 – FREEDOM HIGH (UPROOTED THEATRE) – TOTALLY FREE
EVENT; this world premiere performance is a work of fiction, inspired by actual events that
occurred during “Freedom Summer” in 1964. UPROOTED Theatre is a not-for-profit
organization founded in Milwaukee. This production is a collaborative effort between the
theatre, Young Auditorium, the UW-Whitewater College of Arts & Communication and UWWhitewater Contemporary Issues.

NOVEMBER 19, 2014 – SPANK! THE FIFTY SHADES PARODY – TICKETS UNDER $37;
this risqué musical is back again this fall. The parody is based on the book, “Fifty Shades of
Grey,” which is on its way to movie release in February, 2015.

DECEMBER 20, 2014 – KODACHROME CHRISTMAS (STARRING JOHN MCGIVERN) –
TICKETS UNDER $37 (dining option available); enter the colorful world of cable access
television hostess, Earlene Hoople, played by the Emmy award-winning comedian, John
McGivern, as she endears to your heart this holiday season. Sponsored by Commercial Bank

FEBRUARY 14, 2015 – THE DIAMONDS – TICKETS UNDER $30 (dining option available); in
1957, The Diamonds released an instant million selling hit, Little Darlin’. Get carried away this
Valentine’s Day with their music, just like you remember it. Sponsored by Fort HealthCare

MARCH 2, 2015 - MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET – TICKETS UNDER $50 (dining option
available); this Tony award-winning touring Broadway musical is making a stop for one night at
Young Auditorium, retelling its famous story about a famed recording session that brought
together rock n’ roll icons Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash

MARCH 18, 2015 - THE GREAT GATSBY – TICKETS UNDER $33; this classic literary work is
now brought to the stage with this compelling production by Montana Repertory Theatre. With
themes from the Roaring Twenties that resonate with current times, this show brings the
beauty and poetry of the original masterpiece to life.

APRIL 11, 2015 – CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES-THE LAST (POTLUCK) SUPPER –
TICKETS UNDER $37 (dining option available); don’t miss your chance to see the fifth and
final installment of the hilarious Church Basement Ladies series! Sponsored by Fairhaven

APRIL 19, 2015 – Brahms Requiem WISCONSIN CHAMBER CHOIR WITH FULL
ORCHESTRA;– TICKETS UNDER $21; artistic director, Robert Gehrenbeck, leads this 40
member Wisconsin Chamber Choir, joined by the UW-Whitewater Chamber Choir, with their a
cappella choral singing and professional orchestral accompaniment comprised of members of
the Madison Symphony Orchestra and the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra.

APRIL 29, 2015 – PILOBOLUS – TICKETS UNDER $32; Pilobolus performances are
characterized by a strong element of physical interaction between the bodies of the performers
and exaggerations or contortions of the human form, requiring extreme strength, flexibility and
athleticism.
Young Auditorium’s line up also includes classic theatre performances, and family favorites, such as
Curious George, Aladdin (Missoula Children’s Theatre), Zoozort Animal Show, The Nutcracker Ballet,
Goldie B. Locks and the Three Singing Bears (Florentine Opera), Ken Lonnquist, and a Sing-A-Long
Wizard of Oz movie. Many of the family shows are part of Young Auditorium’s Never Too Young
Series of performances, where prices are $5.00 per ticket, and children under two years of age can
attend for FREE. Individual performances are sponsored by Fort HealthCare, Nasco, and Dalee
Water.

The Young Auditorium serves as a presenting organization for the performing arts and as an
educational and cultural center enriching the lives of regional communities, offering a full season of
world-class performing arts presentations. The theater is a state-of-the-art venue, with 1,300 seats
and a 400 square foot stage that hosts dozens of Broadway touring productions, national and
international music acts, world-renowned dance troupes, family-friendly events, classical touring
-moretheatre companies, and several University of Wisconsin-Whitewater events each year. In addition to
the main theater, the Young Auditorium also houses the Fern Young Terrace and Kachel Center,
where special events and celebrations are never in short supply.
