begin working with and comparing unequal segment lengths and angles.

Section 6-2: Inverses and Contrapositives
We already discussed the if-then statement and its’ converse. In this section we will
discuss the inverse and the contrapositive statements of an if-then statement.
Given if-then statement:

Note: In the above definitions, p is the hypothesis and q is the conclusion.
A Venn diagram can be used to represent a conditional statement.

Section 6-3: Indirect Proof
How to write an indirect proof
1. Assume temporarily that the conclusion is not true.
2. Reason logically until you reach a contradiction of a known fact.
3. Point out that the temporary assumption must be false, and that the conclusion
must then be true.

SAS Inequality Theorem
If two sides of one triangle are congruent to two sides of another triangle, but the
included angle of the first triangle is larger than the included angle of the second, then the
third side of the first triangle is longer than the third side of the second triangle.
THM 6-6:
SSS Inequality Theorem
If two sides of one triangle are congruent to two sides of another triangle, but the third
side of the first triangle is longer than the third side of the second triangle, then the
included angle of the first triangle is larger than the included angle of the second triangle.
