Students have been given 5 reference words to help them learn the stems multi, poly. The students are NOT to learn how to spell the words. They are to know that whenever they see the stems in any form of a word, it means many. The reference words are: Multi and poly means many. 1. multipurpose – adj. able to be used for many reasons 2. multiply – adj. to increase in number; to make many 3. multivitamin – n. a pill or tablet that includes many nutrients needed for health 4. polygon – n. a closed figure have many straight sides, at least 3 or more 5. polygraph – n. a test using an instrument that records many body activities to determine if someone is telling a lie Focus Spelling Pattern: H brothers Chance • • • loves to listen to the train's whistle go choo choo. chalk change chart Philip is a great photographer.
