planning advice or to assist in the drafting of submissions in relation to planning objections, observations
and appeals.

will add a total of 2981 square metres to the 17,022 square
metre scheme previously approved, and include changes to the
treatment of the facades and the landscaping to the front of the
buildings and to coach parking in Croppies Acre. The additions
in floor area result from the following: Lower Basement: Removal
of parking and increase in storage space. Upper Basement:
Addition of parking removed from lower basement (total number
of spaces remains unchanged at 189. Ground Floor: enlarged
visitor reception area, cloakroom and shop, new exhibition
gallery 7 at the southeast corner. First Floor: Addition of
mezzanine level to Gallery, new exhibition gallery 7 at the
southeast corner, roof terrace to south elevation. Second Floor:
New double-height gallery 5 to northwest corner, new exhibition
gallery 7 at the southeast corner, new reading room and
alteration to gallery 6. Plant level: New level with plant room and
access to roof terrace to south elevation new exhibition gallery 7
at the southeast corner, Roof Level: New level with plant room
and viewing landing. It is proposed to remove the floor (19
square metres) from a room in the West Range of Clarke Square
to create a double-height space at the point where the new and
old buildings meet. A new electrical substation will be provided in
the Northwest corner of the site. Externally it is intended to use
natural stone cladding to the rear (north) elevations in lieu of
render, and to revise colour and layout of natural stone cladding
to the front (south) elevation, together with changes in
fenestration patterns. The new gallery spaces to the rear and
front, together with the public access to the roof, increase the
overall height of the elevation from 2-4stories over basement to
a 3-4 storey building with a fifth floor viewing landing. The
landscaping of the public space to the front of the building
(Collins Square) is redesigned to accommodate natural
ventilation of the carpark below, together with new access paths
and substitution of grassed and planted areas in lieu of hard
pavements. The layout of the approved coach park in the west
end of Croppies Acre is amended to provide safer visitor access
and egress, with a relocated vehicular entry point, and
amendments to the gates, paths and planting adjoining. Two
electronic information panels are provided to the railings on
Wolfe Tone Quay. Revisions in the form of Addendums to the
Environmental Impact Statement and the Architectural
Conservation Report will accompany this application.
